Stam/microsoft/preserved Collection Confusion

Okay:

Last year I got TSW1 from the Microsoft Store rather than Steam. I just now purchased TSW2 via Steam (the only PC option). But, it turns out, having two different and apparently incompatible PC-platform games means the Preserved Collection does NOT transfer over, and if I want LIRR or Main-Spessart I will have to buy them again as DLC...

If I just buy the Steam version of TSW1 (currently on sale, for less than the price of one DLC), will I then get the Preserved versions for TSW2 free? Or did I have to own TSW1/Steam first before I bought TSW2?

Yes, unfortunately profiles did not transfer over even if you did buy both games on the same store to begin with.

 

Didn’t realise I could buy 1 and get all my old 2dlc that way
