Got a birthday Steam voucher arriving tomorrow and note both of the above nicely discounted in the WSR celebration sale. Think the Mogul is a must buy, but Manor has mixed review. Though some of those could be down to user error not understanding how Pro models work. Also seems a bit of mutton dressed as lamb, so to speak, an old 2013 model tarted up and kind of re-released. Any thoughts from people who have either or both most appreciated.
There is also this more recent, more complete and probaby better rendition of GWR's Manor class 4-6-0 passenger/mixed traffic locomotives: GWR 7800 Manor Class (steamsoundssupreme.com) AFAIK, the Steam Store LMS 2-6-0 Stanier Mogul is originally from BMG. I have the BMG version and like all of their products, it is good. https://www.precision-loco.co.uk/lms-stanier-mogul-2-6-0.html
Thanks 21c. Not really a fan of buying direct from third parties and as noted this is a Steam voucher from the missus for my birthday! But I will bear it in mind. In the meantime sounds like the Mogul definitely one to go for as, like you, I do love the Bossman stuff.
Your missus is very kind to you ;-) after spending all that time and money on your games. The Steam version of BMG's Stanier Mogul is in their Pro-Range, so I suppose it isnt dumbed down. Plus it will probable have more scenarios in the Steam Workshop than BMG's stand alone product. Eventually, SSS, Victory Works, PLD and Caledonian stuff will be made available through Steam for the masses.
Well I grabbed the Mogul and very nice it is too! A bit wasted on the WSR so when I've finished my "training" run, will see what scenarios I can find on Workshop, or throw together something myself. Hope Valley might offer a more expansive experience or the S&C!
The Manor is from Just Trains which was released by them years ago. I don't know whether the SSS enhancement packs would work with the Steam version released in 2020. I have them for the JT version and they make it a whole new loco.
Yes I think I will let that one pass by. Keep the credit for other stuff maybe coming out in future (like the add on pack for the Turkish route). Thanks for the advice, everyone.
