The Staten Island Railway is a 14-mile (22.5 km) rapid transit line that serves the New York City borough of Staten Island. It consists of 21 stations, embankment, elevated, and open-cut sections, and one tunnel near the Northern Terminus of St. George. The route utilizes St. Louis Car Co. R44s that were built-in 1973. The route and trains utilize ATC and Cab Signalling systems with signals at the interlockings. Line speeds range between 10 MPH (16 KPH) to 45 MPH (72 KPH). The system frequency is a train every 15 minutes during rush hour and every 30 minutes during regular hours. During Rush hours some trains run Express in peak direction between St. George and Great Kills, then makes all stops to Tottenville. During Rush hours local trains run between St. George and Great Kills. Average journey time is around 50 minutes from St. George to Tottenville. There is only one railyard at Clifton, but there are many siding along the route such as Tottenville which has 2 tracks, and there are also multiple tracks and platforms at St. George for storage. I think this would be a great way to introduce players to the New York City subway system, despite this not actually being a part of it and being completely isolated from the rest of the national network. For our friends from the UK this route is very similar to the Isle of Wight railway in distance, isolation, use of subway equipment, and frequent ferry connections. The main difference here would be that unlike the Island Line that sees more seasonal and holiday traffic, the SIRT is truly a commuter line that gets people daily from the island to the ferries and eventually on to their destinations in Manhattan and beyond. Fun fact, while the train has a fare to ride, the Staten Island Ferry is 100% free to ride between Manhattan and Staten Island. It's a great free way to get closer views of the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan skyline. If I remember correctly it may also count as a free a transfer between the SIRT and trains at South Ferry and Bowling Green (I could be mistaken). Throw in a BL20G for work train service and I'm sold on this DLC!
This could be quite fun, providing DTG solve the problem of subsequent runs not restoring properly on resuming a save, thus effecively preventing the chaining of several trips together in a driver's shift.
For downloadable content trains you are looking at R211S BL20GH. Have you maintenance doesn't occur here in Staten Island instead they had to be taken onto a lorry for the Coney Island Shop. NYC Subway.org has a description of the Staten Island Railroad including the date it was electrified. If we had route Builder features just like train simulator classic you can extend this underwater towards Middlesex County the north Jersey coastline Perth Amboy Station
For DLC, the R211, would be neat, but the R44 seems fine for now. Its still a solid train. As for an extension, it would be pointless. The point of the game is for realism, not customization. That's pretty much what you have TSC for.
Okay then and for DTG getting R211S references it should be identical to the R211A 4060-4069 Pitkin Yard A train not 4040-4049 which is R211T. The way this is going to work inside the training centre Metro-North section is used for R44 & R211S. While the Freight track is for BL20GH R156 loco subway
Yeah but the R211S probably won't go into service by this year. It would be pointless to make it part of the route. Remember the R211S has to be for SIR, and SIR have different systems than NYCT such as signalling. So it's not just a copy paste. Theres specifics that go into it. It's better and more practical to make the route with something that has been familiar to all for the past 50+ years.
If you want me to explain it to you it's the Rolling Stock as downloadable content and a freight locomotive used for work trains
He meant the grammar. Anyways, DLC would be pointless for this route. It's set in present day, or the day it was suggested which was April 27, 2023. As of that time only R44s run in passenger service. And work trains would also be pointless. It wouldn't be used for really anything. Maybe it could function as AI, that's really about it.
If I'm gonna pay $40 for a route, I'd like a BL20 thrown in for a little variety. Some of us enjoy work trains and rescue moves, so I think calling it pointless is a little harsh.
You are correct that's what I was originally explaining on my comment BL20GH DLC locomotive with R44. Version 2 R211S with BL20GH alongside the base game R44
It is a real place it's where the motorways like 278 crosses into Brooklyn via the Verazzano bridge which usually has lorries that have R44SI R211S these are 100 series since the Staten Island Railroad yard in Clifton doesn't have access to the main yard in Coney Island via rail. From NEC Trenton New Brunswick New York you use 78 to 440. R211S 103 & 104
