I have steam setup to ask me whether I want to run 32 bits or 64 bits. When I run 64 bits the sim start, and then, stops, within seconds. It will not run. It ran ok the last time that I used it, about 10 days ago.

When i run in 32 bits, the notification tells me that I am running in 64 bits, but, the sim is running in 32 bits. That I should quit, and, restart in 32 bits. I press OK, and 32 bits start running immediately.

    32 bits is running OK.

Dovetail, If you can, please check with steam, and see if the 64 bit version is loading, or not.

    Thank you

This usually is an issue on your system and not Steam or DTG. Please read posted FAQs "regarding TSC will not start." It may be as simple as a file verify. You have not mentioned if it ever ran in 64 bit or if this is a new issue. Please post your system specifications such as desktop or laptop, processor type and speed, GPU model, and installed memory size. :)

It always ran in 64bits for me by starting from the Steam app, until now. I have checked the faqs, and have checked and followed an recent list of possible resolutions, posted by "triznya-andras", in another post, that I did yesterday, when it first happened. I have checked my memory, cpu, gpu. I have did an file verify, and complete uninstall, including removing Railworks from my steam folder. I have removed all Workshop routes and scenarios from Railworks, (Train Simulator Classic).

I now have a pristine, (only routes and scenarios) that comes with Train Simulator Classic.

By the way, Until I started it up yesterday, it ran OK, including when I started it up the last time, which was about 10 days or so, ago.

Just out of curiosity, how many routes / DLC do you have, roughly?
It is possible to reduce your installation to an absolute minimum, by removing all DLC but one or two (Academy is an easy option).

I have a hunch though that maybe your profile is wrong, as with official content the game should start up.
I don't remember how to fix it, and my PlayerProfiles.bin is curiously tiny - there was a file that was listing every scenario ever played.

Hopefully someone, maybe someone from DTG will be able to help you tomorrow.

In your Railworks Directory is RailWorks64.exe - put a shortcut on your desktop and try starting the game from that.

If you have an NVIDIA GPU open the control panel and check in the 3D settings list of programs to see if Railworks64.exe is listed, if not add it.

Same problem here. Did a complete reinstall (unintentionally, by uninstalling Steam) and even with no DLC installed TS won't start in 64 bits mode. Until a few weeks ago I've never had this problem.

I just did a test. Firing up TSC2023 in 64 Bit results in the famous black screen.

But no issues whatsoever running in 64 Bit DX12.

    Go figure ?!?!

I have solved the problem, at least for now. Here is what I did. You will need an old backup of Railworks.

    1. Run the Steam app, uninstall Train Simulator Classic.

    2. Set Steam to run offline. Check the directory steam\steamapp\common\, to make sure that the Railworks folder, has, been deleted.

    3. Install your old backup of Railworks into steam\steamapp\common\. This will probably take some time depending on how large the backup is.

    4. After the backup is installed, go into steam\steamapp\common\Railworks, and run Railworks64.exe.

    5. You may get an message that it cannot run because MSVCR100.dll is missing.

    6. If that happens, goto Microsoft, and, download the missing .dll onto your computer.

    7. That should fix it. Now restart Railworks64.exe. It should start. Let it finish starting.

    8. Goto the main menu, shut down Railworks.

    9. Restart Railworks64.exe, just to make sure that it is indeed, running correctly.

    10. Now shut down Railworks. Start the Steam app, and, set steam to run online.

    11. Now run Railworks thru the Steam app. It will be confused, because the copy that it has is not the same as what it is now seeing.

    12. It will give you an choice of which one you want to run.

    13. It will fail. Once it fails, clear the Steam cache.

    14. Once the cache is cleared, you will have to sign in again to steam.

    15. Run the Steam app. Now Steam will give you permission to install Train Simulator Classic.

    16. This will course take some time. But, after its installed, the latest version of Train Simulator Classic should run normally. At
    least, it is for me.

    17. GOOD LUCK.

Hahahaha, thanks Bob. That is way too much fiddling. Would like to keep my system lean and clean, so for now I will just run the 64 Bit DX12 version instead.

I've found the solution on a different forum. Remove 'NVCUDA64.DLL' from 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_e34a87a86b660c23' and it works again. The file may be located in a different folder.

Can you link the other forum post?

I hate fixes without explanations, even though I'm not having your particular issue I'm curious none the less.

Interesting thanks, so basically a corrupt Nvidia driver even though the user there was on Radeon, perhaps it was a conflict between AMD and Nvidia drivers then.

So after reading that if you're on AMD then probably fine to delete said .dll if you're on Nvidia forcing a driver update or rolling back to a previously known working one would/should work just as well.

Just a word of caution wrt Nvidia drivers using Windows roll-back - this is not supported by nVidia:

Thanks for this. I had a slightly different situation, but used some of the steps, and now TrainSim 64 is working. I’ve got an hp notebook 15 with i5 processor and 8gb of ram. Integrated graphics card. I’m happy to be able to keep this game running in my pc. Thank you.

I have the issue where the game loads up with the sound and the app icon shows up in the taskbar. But I cannot access the game itself.
