Since about Thursday last week, I have noticed that my trains on spirit of steam have not been generating nearly as much steam as it normally would (so much so that the pressure decreases dramatically at 10% reverser and full regulator.) I have tried to test what is causing it in multiple ways but nothing seems to change it, here are my findings; Dampers dramatically reduce steam pressure Firebox being open and coal being shovelled slightly slows pressure decrease, but as soon as it is closed again it resumes its normal decrease. Injectors seem to do nothing to help or hinder steam generation or loss. Blower decreases steam pressure dramatically. I hope i an get answer on if it's me if others are having the same issue. Also, it is resulting in me struggling to get past 50mph on timetable mode on a flat surface.
Steam feels like a lost cause currently. Although the new update that’s scheduled to come out along side the new peak forest seems promising.
Maybe. It's just I've never had issues before (guess im lucky) except since Thursday but that is also when the bug about running out of coal was patched so maybe that has something to do with it?
Well I just had a drive and I don't know how you drive but it is normal to me. Check the screenies.... 230 past red line at start... Down to 130 during accel Back to 220 at speed! Timestamped while driving so you can see...... Close cylinder cocks Close large vacuum co ck leave small on 19% https://imgur.com/AYDWFzj https://imgur.com/a/iTlO0Gn
I set my reverser to 20-25% and regulator at 50%. Yes eventually the pressure goes back up but it looks very slow increase. Is it supposed to be like that? Is 130 psi during accel is acceptable boiler pressure?
Use 16% forward and 75% regulator at around 45mph to get best performance whilst not using too much steam. 130 psi is fine. Once you are at 50mph it should increase with lower reverse settings and reg set around 50-75%.
The boiler model is known to be a basic placeholder right now. It'll probably behave quite wrongly on Assisted or Manual firing mode. It's best to leave it in Automatic firing for now. And yes, the pressure does drop alarmingly when starting off, or when re-applying power after coasting with the regulator closed. Once the fire is thoroughly draughted, it will produce much more steam and you can maintain a decent power output. Again, this is not exactly correct behaviour, but it's a placeholder until they figure out how to do it properly.
