How long does it usually take for Steam to action a refund after it's been requested? I got an email acknowledging the request had been received almost immediately after I submitted it but nothing since so far.
They will normally confirm within a few minutes via email if eligible. Then it can be 24 hours before the funds return to your Wallet. Normally prior to that if agreed the sum will be shown in brackets next to your balance. Don’t forget it is possible to overuse the feature (a by product of game QA unfortunately) at which point you will receive a “friendly” warning about its purposes. Too many refunds in a row and they may revoke your ability to do so.
Thanks. The items still show in my list of owned dlc so it doesn't seem to be that emails have gone astray. Perhaps the refund department doesn't work at the weekend, I'll leave it until tomorrow and try to chase if still nothing heard.
The refund process is automated so should be 24/7. You will need to manually delete the relevant pak file from the DLC folder in Windows Explorer as Steam doesn’t always automatically do this. For a full game you may have to physically uninstall too.
The pak files aren't there, they obviously got removed when I uninstalled the dlc through the 'Manage my DLC' window. Any idea how to contact Steam so I can chase this up, it's not obvious from the Steam Support area of the Steam client? The requests are visible there and have ticket numbers but show as 'open'.
Just looked on there myself Andy and, got to admit, I can't see it either. If there is a means to contact direct it certainly isn't obvious.
Thanks Vern, I'll try cancelling the refund, double checking the dlc isn't still installed and try again.
My refund requests have now been actioned. In case anyone else wonders how long it takes, in my case, going by the time the confirmatory emails were sent, it took about 9 hours.
Glad you got it sorted Andy. That does seem excessive as I have pretty much always got the confirmatory or “not eligible” email within the hour.
