I just looked across some Steam reviews for TSW4 and there are so many negative ones just complaining about having to rebuy everything which is not even true, I'm just getting sick by that... Oh well.
That is why I don't bother reading reviews or certainly don't base my purchasing decisions on them. Angry people making up nonsense, you can guarantee most won't bother editing their review when they realise they don't have to rebuy everything. Just the same as people leaving negative reviews for DLC because they can't get a train to move, of course it is the DLC's fault not their own. Still I am sure they keep the small minded amused!
The reviews are actually mostly positive. Just a small handful of negative reviews by people who think they should get it for free or reasons that are just not true.
Yes just looked, they are mostly positive, that will upset a few on here for sure. Most of the negative ones could be copy and pasted from this forum!
Yeah people who leave reviews like this are just stupid IMO, as most of them haven't listened to the tons of social media posts and forums telling them why or how to do something etc. I mean even the positive reviews don't help much. The xbox store was inundated with five star reviews of stuff like "I can't wait for this" and "Preordered" a month before the game came out. I think I'd recommend watching some videos to help actually make your mind up. Trainsim TV is a good channel I find along with Dad rail (who's the only Ambassador I watch as he's honest and is a freight driver), both of which I find helpfully neutral.
I agree that Dad Rail has a good channel. It's unfortunate he has the ambassador tag attached, but otherwise have learned from his channel on how real train drivers do things. Seems like a humble kind family man.
I show mixed at the moment? But if people ignore the negative reviews, you'd need to also ignore a ton of the positve ones. "1", "yes", "I like trains", "nice", etc. The negative ones are also funny though "contains no content"
it was mostly positive at the time I wrote the post. But since more reviews came in as more players are able to play after the whole import debacle which still isn't fully resolved yet, it got lower. But yea, some negative reviews are interesting
I'm curious what ratings this game may get on Playstation. I read a rumour today they're finally adding a rating system to the PS Store. Not written ratings though, from what I can tell. I know what I'm going to give it if given the chance.
It’s showing mostly positive when I looked last night. Although a lot of steam reviews on most games are useless and usually a bunch of copy and pasted ones with some kind of lengthy background story. Most the time it’s easier to just buy the game have a play for just under 2 hours and make a decision if you’re going to refund or keep playing.
My biggest gripe with putting reviews on Steam is the absolute of positive or negative. There should be a neutral option, or perhaps like Amazon a rating of 1 to 5 stars.
It means they think the reviewer is a joker. AKA the review is too positive or negative for the actual product.
It depends, sometimes I do, sometimes i don't. Or you get ones like "found a tin of beans, then got murdered for the beans - DayZ' Worst thing steam ever did was the "funny" tag for reviews
reviews look bad, it dropped a bit to 62% compared to 79% for TSW3 or 82% for TSW2 and then other games such as 89% for Transport Fever 2 or 93% for Cities Skylines. then you got BeamNG/drive at 97% just to compare to what reviews are like for other games on steam
Payday 3? On topic: I don't think I've ever been helped by Steam reviews. Too many trolls and the hive mind is too strong (either it's the best game of all time or worse than satan). Some of my most enjoyable games in the last 12 months have had terrible reviews (Callisto Protocol, Last of Us PC, Jedi Survivor).
Having just trawled through all the reviews and commenting on the ones which talk about not having compatible content (understandable, but I hope they'd change them now they've been able to claim everything), I just wanted to ask for those in this thread who have played the game to consider reviewing themselves. If I see another clown emoji I may scream. You've played through the content a lot at this point - and can form a balanced view of the content, rather than an initial snapshot. I'm not asking for a 'sunshine and rainbows' review here - just one which is able to provide a fuller picture of the game than some of the existing reviews on the page. Constructive criticism is welcomed, but would also love to know what you're enjoying too . Thanks!
I gave the GWE DLC a "not recommended", because it has a game breaking issue (wipers) that has been caused by an update, and subsequent reports were ignored, after forum members made the effort to post picture and videos. So the value of this DLC is greatly reduced, but it's still sold for full price, that's why I think it's proper to warn people about this, as I have to assume it will not be fixed. It's the treatment of your customers (I'm speaking to you not personally, but as a representative of DTG), that inevitably leads to bad reviews. Just collect the reports, post a sticky ("Known Issues") and a status on each issue logged. Give the people paying your wage the feeling they are being taken serious. Zusi is a role model concerning the bug tracking - fully transparent. https://forum.zusi.de/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=12641 So DTG also need to review themselves.
Asobo does an equally good job of tracking issues and upcoming features to flight sim. People can upvote so that the most critical issues / features rise to the top and the developers can speak to each (as they did today) on what progress / roadblocks they are facing. Quite a refreshing approach. Doesn't mean that everything will be fixed (even ever!) but at least they are regularly discussed and addressed in addition to upcoming features / content.
JD, I hope someone told you to get out there and try and turn it around because otherwise its a tad unusual to ignore all the flack that's being fired as the result of some pretty spectacular foul ups and a little tone deaf of you if it was a moment of individual inspiration. The stuff that is working well did so in TSW3, so I guess we could just copy and paste those reviews over. Until the editor etc etc is released it's 3 new routes with some fog and suspension movement. I think the reviews are justified, and I think you need to review where you're taking the franchise.
Not ignoring flak (lots of 16+ hour days mean I've been living the majority of the past week or so, and been trying to help players through it), just seeing a lot of discussion on here about different elements of the game. Would rather considered, thought-through reviews (positive or negative) take up the real-estate on the page than one-sentence summaries that really don't provide any context for what the game is like to play.
Simple solution: Offer free to play demo versions like ETS2. Might be one train and a route stub. SCS don't need to tell the players what kind of reviews they wanna see, see the difference? Anyway, I know you've had a tough time the last days, good night JD. (I am always trying to be constructive, don't take anything personally please ) I'm going to drive an Antelope Valley train now, seeing if I can spot a dirty old Peterbilt chasing a red Plymouth down the roads around Acton...
Ah OK. I'm with you. I haven't been over there today tbh. I'm sure people will change their reviews once they've got it all up and running. Not sure how much people pay attention to steam reviews these days anyway tbh, especially single issue ones. Keep smiling!
Maybe just the training center and some old default stock in generic or DTG inspired paint? Like the Academy from TSC.
I have watched a couple here and there and one I used to watch said something along the lines of "I'm really trying not to be harsh about this" which I don't think is the best attitude, surely just be honest? I get that feel from a few other channels if I'm honest, but don't get me wrong I'm open to watching other channels. I think I prefer Dadrails channel though as he also has that railway background too which is nice and I feel that TrainsimTv gives a good list of good and bad most of the time, with a good railway background too which is important to me personally. But as I say thats my personal opinion and I'm happy for people to point me in the direction of channels they feel do a good job of giving a good representation of content
