Anyone else notice that one of the collectibles is to put up tourist posters and on them is a steam train? I don’t know too much about the region but I can’t imagine it’s steam heavy. Or is it? perhaps it’s a Easter egg for a future German Steam Train
The route is Steam locomotive Heavy with both tracks being used by Steam locomotives poster text a Dampflokomotive. This one has Deutsche Reichsbahn DDR 18 201 & 52-80 rekoloks. ] When it comes to German steam locomotives you have West German 010 and its East German answer the 18 201 Chemnitz Hilbersdorf depot this video dates to 1983 therefore Karl Marx Stadt Hilbersdorf if DTG gets a Deutsche Reichsbahn DDR doumentation
The 18 201 is not the East German answer to the West German 010. The two 010s were prototypes for a new series of steam locos for express passenger trains but due to the quick rise of diesel and electric traction, no order was ever placed for more. The 18 201 was a unique loco build specifically to test new coaches for speeds of 160km/h since the DR didn‘t have any locos that could travel that fast.
I can confirm that once a Year there is a Railway Festival between Dresden Hauptbahnhof and Dresden Plauen
The area hosts multiple train museums, including Eisenbahnmuseum Bw Dresden-Altstadt, Verkehrsmuseum Dresden, Schauplatz Eisenbahn (Chemnitz), and Eisenbahnmuseum Leipzig, some of which offer railtours, and many heritage railways including Feldbahn Dresden (600mm), Lößnitzgrundbahn (750mm), Museumsfeldbahn Leipzig-Lindenau (std) and Windebergbahn (std), which runs partway along the Dresden-Chemnitz route .
