Do I need both injectors open to move correctly I was driving the flying Scotsman from Doncaster 16 miles to Retford I’m trying to reach 100mph (achievement) only got to 75 and it kept saying to put the reverser to mid gear and close cylinder cocks I was driving with both injectors open regulator fully open reverser 75 forward.
You should cut back on the reverser. Generally speaking, you want to increase regulator and decrease reverser. I like to keep mine at 50% reverser.
Assuming you're driving the default MK2 coaches, you don't need to touch the Ejectors, otherwise you'll create a Vacuum for an Air braked train and then bad things will happen and the train will slow down.
If it is saying to close cylinder cocks, make sure they are closed. The lever for them is obscured by the conductor. If the cocks are open most that steam is being wasted and so won't be able to hit 100mph. Edit: by the conductor's knees is where the cylinder cocks are.
In so far as TSW accurately simulated steam traction… So far as power is concerned, 75% cut off is only used to get moving and TBH most times 60 or 65% will suffice. You should start winding that back in fairly quickly, by the time you are travelling at 25 to 30 MPH 40% cut off should be sufficient. For higher speeds wind back to 25% though FS is slightly different to the Jubilee which is most efficient at a very unrealistic 15% cut off. Make sure both dampers are open to 25% and if using manual firing make sure to hit “F” or the console equivalent before starting to trigger the process, or you get the absurd game over message after a few minutes.
In the old Simudrive text based game, it would relieve you of duty if you were still at 75% cutoff at 10 MPH. Shows what junk TSW steam physics really are.
