Specifically the Cab Forward SP loco on Donner Pass. The grades are brutal. I'm going to have fun with this one! I'm no expert on steam, hence I'll have a learning curve. I've managed a 9f over Shap (just on quick drive) and managed to jockey the regulator and reverser around so I didn't stop :).
However, the cab forward scenario for Donner.. stalled on the grade. I guess it's not just a case of whacking the regulator full on and then increasing the reverser to suit as she slows down? I'm not sure about the water level either. For example when the HUD reads about 80% then the water level as accessed by F5 says in well in excess of 1. :o
The manual mentions that the fire doors are open by default as it's an oil burner.
Should I use an auto fireman (not activated currently)?

Off to track down videos of the real things etc. Cheers.

EDIT - just seen Matt Peddlesden's quick tutorial video; the values are messed up on the F4 HUD due to the loco being unusual - need to watch the F5 values. The manual alludes to using both F4 and F5, but doesn't mention the F4 readings are screwed.. THANK YOU MATT!

Any other hints and tips would be appreciated for taming this beastie. :D

As I said, I'm no expert (steam, electric or diesel LOL!), but for those more knowledgeable, how accurate is the AC-12 despite the de-synchronisation between the F4 and F5 info?

You might be best asking on the RW America Forums
There are some US & Canadian players but I'm unsure if they can answer the "how accurate is the AC-12" question
I would not know what it is

Yeah, unfortunately I have no clue on the accuracy of the Cab Foward gauge readings and whatnot. As I haven't really seriously ran it recently either.
