that’s now 2 previews in 3 days that have been postponed, why do dtg bother planning them for specific dates when they’re not 100% sure the dlc will be ready? over the last year there’s been an increasing number of previews getting postponed and it’s clear evidence that things are being rushed. all dtg are doing is disappointing people
It’s March Madness at DTG, they’re too busy salivating at the idea of releasing a years worth of DLC within a month.
Just to point out, the DLC in this case MVL, is ready. It's other things outside of our control that have lead to the postponment.
Seriously this is a total shambles at this point: "Brake issue" on NY-Stamford causes stream to be pushed back a couple of days...ok it happens But somehow that causes the stream for a completely different route from an unrelated 3p to be pushed back a whole week (how much you wanna bet it's either after or the day before release at this point). Because...why exactly? So, what do we think actually happened? My bet is NY-Stamford was rejected by the licensor (weird patch note from today for Harlem about passenger lights being on for player train set my alarm bells off), requiring an all-hands effort because there's no way in heck release is gonna slip past that March 31st quater-end deadline. It's LIRR2 all over again imo.
End of tax year haul trying to fleece us all! What an absolute shambolic sh!t show this week has been!
They are trying to the balance ensurng releases are at the best they can be against getting releases over the line rushing things out so the revenue hits this year, which without could have a whole raft of implications and knock-on effects from whether staff receive bonuses to how much investment they get next year. If they didnt announce prestreams with notice then fewer people will watch which then affects sales also. Its the same every year to some extent.
Better to just take their time to be honest. There is really no need to rush things so if a preview stream gets canceled, then I can’t see that as a bad thing. I'm certainly in no hurry to buy DLC's. In fact, I haven’t bought any TSW 6 dlc
To be brutally honest, if it’s a route I’m not sure about, I’ll wait for actual player reviews and streams to make up my mind rather than rely on the official stream.
Talk about first world problems! In Iran, people have no internet, bombs are falling, and if they step out into the street they risk being shot. I think a delayed game preview rates pretty low.
Yeah…look at all these people in here comparing this to war, it’s crazy. Holy strawman argument Batman.
Comparing someone’s tiny little problem to someone’s life and death problems is not a straw man argument. It’s trying to provide a sense of proportion.
Exactly this shove ALL content out before tax year is ended. Promise players patches and such in due course end result the figures look good the broke DLC is released they made there money onto the next year
completely out of context- YOU just came on here and started making comparisons. i know my problems are nothing compared to what many other people suffer, but does that mean i’m not entitled to feel annoyed about anything? No.
by that logic i assume you’ve never had a single complaint about tsw? blurry textures, crashing, countless bugs, slow loading times- i don’t ever want to hear you make a single complaint about this game
Its NOT the taxyear DTG are bothered about….it’s their Company financial year-end that hits on 31 March….
Wrong. DTG’s financial year end and accounts run to the 31March each year. The UK tax year ends on the 5 April each year.
Can you guys enlighten me on all of the insides of the DTG business model? Trying to learn as much as I can to help build my jump to conclusions map.
so the same time frame then thanks for confirming. 31st March is a tuesday the 5th April being a sunday means by the friday the paperwork is all done so 2 days at max difference meaning SAME TIMEFRAME
Either way i agree with the OP DTG really need to stop with the early announcements and preview streams UNTIL they have a stable build that WORKS and they are happy with all this does is reflect badly on them by having to cancel things and does not fill you with confidence of a good release. Yes things can happen but 2 streams in 1 week thats a bit much
that is why OldVern says he will wait for ACTUAL PLAYER REVIEWS AND STREAMS. Not dtg nor ambassadors but agree with your points
release a game, sell some dlc, release some updates that break important stuff, release some more dlc but this time with some extra bugs, another update that breaks just as much as it solves, release 5 dlcs in 3 weeks, another update, 2 dlcs in 2 months, announce another game
i really do sympathise with you and your team because i’m sure you want this in our hands as much as we do, pity some people’s priorities are different
