Hello guys. So, after long time trying to figure out why only this game stutters and has huge fps drops, I finally found solution to totally eliminate stutters and game runs now smoothly like butter. One important step to do and you will see huge changes. 1. Go to console System settings and switch off HDCP setting. Restart ps5 and go see huge improvement in game. Also important what affects games all games is to not use rest mode on console, it affects performance all around in games. If you had it in rest mode, make sure to turn it OFF and ON before gaming. Thats it. Finally I can enjoy this wonderful sim. If you didn’t have HDCP off already then do it now and see the difference. Best regards!
If you switch off DHCP, you need to know how to manually configure the network settings. It's not as simple as you make it out to be.
Sorry I meant to say HDCP, not dhcp. I edited post now. The only downside is that you won’t be able to run example Spotify or any other music app on console during the gameplay, but it’s worth. And can always switch back ON after done playing.
Hmm that’s weird. I might need to post then my other console settings under video what I changed along the way. Maybe it related to some more settings. Ive been testing sense yesterday and I have now very smooth gameplay without annoying stutters and massive fps drops. The moment I turn it back on my gameplay is back to stutter fest
Certainly I've found on PC that quitting out of all open apps helps quite a bit; this seems to be broadly similar (eliminating reserved memory and cycles)
Here, I uploaded 3 pics with my other ps5 settings. Try after changing them with HDCP turned off. On my 4k tv I also use gaming mode (low latency input mode) https://postimg.cc/cgVScj35 https://postimg.cc/dhBJK5ML https://postimg.cc/MfV83DbZ
Nothing out of the ordinary with your settings, I don’t find the PS5 more stuttery than other platforms, just less fps, but that’s because DTG never took the time to optimise the game for the console. Another example is the long time it takes for the game to load; if they had worked with the Sony API it would take just a few seconds.
Long time to load? For me it takes seconds literally, maybe because I installed different ssd on my ps5 and running games from there. Anyway this setting off fixed my problem significantly and sim now very enjoyable. I leave this thread here and maybe someone else will find it helpful, I have nothing to lose just was trying to help others
Interesting, I have a 2nd fast SSD, logically it shouldn’t make much difference but I’ll try moving TSW onto it.
When the game runs on my PC, the CPU is running at 10% load. Even if I had open apps, they wouldn't have much of an impact. I'm more and more convinced that the stuttering (or hiccups, temporary FPS drops, or whatever they are called) happen only for certain routes. Right now, I'm running Clinchfield very smoothly. No stuttering at all. Same could be said of HRR and RRO, which I played this morning. At the other end of the spectrum, Kassel Wurzburg has probably the worst stuttering I've seen. I've had them even in tunnels, where otherwise the FPS goes up a bit compared to the rest of the route. Also seen stuttering on Bremen route and even Riesa-Dresden. On the latter, the stutters are much less pronounced than on Bremen and Kassel. PC has Ryzen 5950X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3090, PCIe gen 4 SSDs (separate for OS and games). 4K, mostly Ultra settings (except for Sky Quality which is set to Low).
So, moving the game to a different SSD made no appreciable difference to loading time. From hitting the X to start the game, it takes around 1.5 minutes to load TSW3. That’s with all DLC up to and including the TSW3 launch routes and the loco bundle. I removed all but the 5 TSW3 launch routes and got it down to 15 secs. I don’t know what the heck is going on with DTG’s implementation on PS5, but this is one for the support desk.
35 seconds for me from ps5 menu to the moment I load on the rails. https://youtube.com/shorts/EQY4-alNc3E?feature=share
I deleted all DLC except 5 routes and it took much less time, so it would seem to be heavily DLC dependent.
This change helped on my PS4. I've been getting crashes a lot on BML lately, but after turning off HDCP I had smoother fps with no out of memory crashes on runs that previously crashed. Load time on PS4 with 52 DLCs is 2 min 50 sec. I remember it was faster with just base game routes so definitely the amount of DLC affects load times on Play Station.
