Just saw the trailer for this game, which is coming out at the end of the month, and it gave me some real TSW vibes. There’s not a ton of info out there that I can find but it seems like it has two TSW qualities being timetable mode as well as the ability to stand up and walk around, instead of being tied to the cab view. Also the developer seems to also be in the business of making commercial/professional simulators for the rail industry. There are many terrible “simulators” out there so I’ll try not to have high expectations but so far looks good. Seems to be doing the Berlin and Hamburg subways. Coming to PC AND 9th gen consoles. The HUD also looks like it was ripped out of TSW:
Think this one has seem discussion with mixed verdict. Seems little doubt it’s an evolution of the TML WOS series with all the baggage that entails, with Aerosoft as the publisher. Caveat emptor and wait for reviews are my thoughts.
Waiting for reviews. The first version wasn’t bad, but was in my opinion overpriced for both the quality and gameplay provided - I picked it up in a sale and enjoy it now and then, but it seemed far more basic than TSW and didn’t look as good. The attraction for me is Berlin. I visit it often and the stations and landmarks in the preview look very good. I even noticed the aeroplane suspended on the roof of the Techniksmuseum. It also looks like there is AI S Bahn traffic. It looks very promising, but I can’t bring myself to pay full price without seeing some reviews first.
I'd never heard of it until I watched the trailer - it looks good actually in my opinion - and surprised me it's coming to Series X. Having been to both Hamburg and Berlin this potentially excites me. But, echoing other players here, it'll be worth waiting for reviews first to see if actually any decent or not.
Just don’t get stung… World Of Subways always looked good but let down by the implementation. And now firmly out of support as made clear to me by Aerosoft last year when I ran into issues having one last fling with the Circle Line edition.
There's a dev interview regarding SubwaySim 2 on YouTube if anyone's interested. The game actually looks pretty decent and hopefully will provide some strong competition in this niche market, especially on console.
You probably already know now as today was release day, but if you do not already own Hamburg then yes this includes both. If you already own Hamburg, you get SS2 for like 40 something percent off but you still get the upgraded version of Hamburg. Having played it, I have enjoyed it for the two hours I played. Some cons are that the draw distance is not very far and no clacking noises like when you pass over interlockings, etc. As of right now there's only U1 and U3 for Berlin and U3 for Hamburg. There are apparently plans to expand from what I've heard but I haven't really looked in detail.
