this is a follow up from this fourm Is https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...c-train-set-numbers-in-tsw.70374/#post-656260

i think this should be a thing where players are able to select specific train set number of that train type in TSW3 plus future version. This should be applied in all types of scenarios, rather it is when choosing trains running on a specific route or scenario, (timetable?), customizing workflow such as during creating new services and selecting which specific set is gonna run that service. Basically this applies to every function when selecting a train.

For those who feels annoyed and don't want to select certain train set number(s) when selecting trains, there can be a default option for players to select random set numbers.

And this is to some extend, but possibly in livery creation, certain trains can have it's train set number to be completely fiction/not in game yet. (also to be default set during the livery creating so that we dont have to put numbers in ourselves). There can also be a function where the livery can be only on certain train set numbers.

I've said on other posts that creators club needs more "rigidity" in how it applies liveries, and one of those possibilities would be assigning the liveries to specific loco numbers, mainly for the absolute unique paintjobs, but also so that you don't get 158s in scotrail livery when they've never left the South West

Of course the default when doing a run would be "random", but I don't see why they couldn't enable an asset selection process, whether by unit or consist number, or by some other method like a drop down list of available liveries...
