I’m in two minds. On the one hand it’s sounds exciting having more trains running around at rush hour, more checks at lights, and more passengers, but on the other hand I don’t think I’m skilled enough yet to notice all the lights and stop on time. I still fall foul of red lights on routes that only show them occasionally. I think I need to work on my concentration before I tackle something like rush hour tbh.
Rush Hour does sound very interesting. I am not sure I shall buy it, as although it might work on a PS4, it is going to get seriously hot running all the extra stuff. I already have a cooling fan stand for mine. This would probably be really good on a PS5, when you can get one at a reasonable price. Though with the growing number of Bug issues in other areas and modules, I am not sure I shall want to buy it until we all know it is "Very" stable on "All" platforms.
I’m looking forward to it. Mainly because it’s three good looking routes for the price of a takeaway meal for two including puddings, drinks and delivery, which is also the standard price for one route. As for the Rush Hour concept and what that means for gameplay, I’m not so sure yet, but it is something a bit different so I’m looking forward to finding out how it all works when it arrives, and whether the busy bits will work well on my PS4. If it’s all laggy and slow in the busy bits and DTG’s advice is to drive in the less busy times to overcome that issue, I won’t be best pleased and would rather not have the busy periods at all. That has already been the advice from Matt in a live stream if you don’t want to be held up at lights and want to avoid the whole concept of Rush Hour altogether when it is released. I’m hoping it isn’t the same advice for poor performance issues. We have seen with HMA how the best intentions from DTG to provide something great has ended up not being up to scratch for us, to the point that they have been unable to sell it to is in the intended form. This is all worst case scenario stuff from myself and I am not actually expecting it to be the case, as there are busy periods in SEHS, where trains follow on closely behind and that runs perfectly adequately, but it is best to be prepared that it is a possibility, and to not get too excited. The updated passenger system is one that I expect will be as dramatic a change as the updated sky system was for TSW2, the same but slightly different, and slightly better. If it turns out that the current abundant sets of twins and triplets have just been dressed differently by their mums this time round instead of in matching double denim, then it will be just as I’m expecting it to be, with hopefully some weather appropriate clothing thrown in. In conclusion, I’m looking forward to the routes and am on the fence about the concept and how far reaching and useable the Rush Hour specifics are going to turn out, and as usual have all my fingers crossed that it all just works properly, my major concern with anything new, and the update to the new UE engine could go either way in that regard too.
More stress, more demand on hardware, just to get rid of all the twins and triplets and have routes that i am not interested in. I find it much better how flight simulation is structured. If i want different weather, different trees, different water textures, add-ons are available. Not a package. If i want to do a repaint of an aircraft - all i need is a paint program. So, no, not excited.
I had this response from Matt in an earlier post. Whilst I am looking forward to it, it worries me that it can’t be switched off. When they apply Rush Hour to pre-existing routes you are going to have disgruntled customers who have been happily driving (say) ECW for years suddenly finding that they can’t drive, or at least have difficulty driving at certain times of the day due to a feature that didn’t exist on the route before that they neither wanted not asked for. Being told to drive at different times of day won’t be an acceptable response in this instance.
It’s a worry that any new feature added to the old routes by Adam’s team may affect performance. I’m not sure they will be going back and altering timetables to make the rush hour times busier in those routes because it takes too much testing time to guarantee the timetable works, but you never know. Rapid Transit is getting a new timetable after all. The saving grace will be that any new timetables would be a second choice and the original timetable would remain intact, so that’s not a bad thing in itself. Adding the new passengers, PIS systems and working crossing gates etc hopefully won’t affect performance but it is a definite worry and with those ‘improvements’ they will be there whether or not you want them.
I had not thought of that and I do agree, it would be very good to be able to turn that feature on and off. Though I am pretty sure it will just be a "Feature" that will be added with no options, But I will await to be told that by either company.
I do hope you are right. Though going forward, I personally am not sure I want things anymore complicated Well I can always just ride the trains
I can't wait! I've been waiting for a Brighton Mainline update in nearly a decade! I was hoping the Class 700 would have made an appearance but the 387 makes up for it. It's more than likely we will see the Class 700 at some point in the near future as a DLC. My guess for the release date is around mid-August time.
I play it on ps5 so for me I haven't seen any business bugs. I'm still surprised at how much I really like this game
I love the fact that all the responses I read weather positive or negative are all valid. For me I have yet to be disappointed with the game so I'm definitely looking forward to the new content. And it will be nice to have something that is made to run on the ps5. Although I'm pleasantly surprised at how the game plays in its current state. I haven't had it too long and i'm not saying it's perfect but it is pretty dam good.
That makes good sense. They would need a second timetable to allow for Rush Hour and as there is already an existing timetable, a choice of which to use would be the sensible option.
Damned if they do and damned if they don't. For how long have players been complaining about unrealistically sparse timetables, empty platforms, underpopulated routes? All not worthy of a simulation, not realistic? So DTG move to increase realism and all people can do is whinge about it.
Yes they will test it on a PS4, possibly even two (sorry, couldn’t resist), but it doesn’t guarantee good performance throughout. I’m not saying it’s not going to work, just that we who have been playing TSW for a while know some of the issues that can occur, and can be wary of them. Livery designer for example is one part of TSW that is almost guaranteed to crash your system every time you use it. Always just before you save after adding a load of of symbols, or when you first load a livery into a service to check it. That feature was probably tested on a PS4 before release as well, but still has issues. Not all issues can be discovered before release. When the advertising blurb is promising more of the things we know have caused issues in the past it would be odd if nobody had mentioned it on the forum. We are just wondering how our poor machines are going to handle it, that’s all.
Yep fair points all. As you say you guys have been playing TSW a lot longer than me so know the pitfalls to expect. I am quite looking forward to Rush Hour but as I said earlier my skill on TSW probably isn’t up to standard to be any good at it yet. Looking forward to reading what everyone has to say about it once it’s released and then I will decide whether to buy it or not I suppose.
This is a wise approach in general, and paradoxically the people who get most upset about imperfections or issues in the routes never learn to wait until the reviews are in before buying, they have too much fun writing the bad reviews I think xD. In all seriousness, take with a pinch of salt some of what you read here when new routes come out, it's usually obvious what is a genuine review, and what is someone just letting off steam because it doesn't do something they want it to do in the way they want it to do it. When TSW2 was launched many threw around the term 'unplayable', and some still do with regards to Preserved Collection routes that I play all the time without noticing any of what they say is so bad, so just bear that in mind when Rush Hour is launched unless it is absolutely perfect there's a good chance you'll see people saying they uninstalled it, or they'll never play TSW2 again because of some issue or other that is of vital importance to them, but for others isn't all that noticeable.
