I’m spending sometime driving the 3 car 385 on the run from from Edinburgh to Polmont and back on the Edinburgh to Dunblane service. I choose to drive in June or July as I enjoy the sunshine. But I’ve just noticed something and I hope one of you sim drivers can confirm my findings. I’m, at the moment, driving from Polmont to Edinburgh, which is roughly west to east. It is 06.30 in the morning. It’s sunny, as it is July, but the sun seems to be shining from north/north east by the angle of the shadows that are being thrown across the track. Now, I am no expert, but surely shouldn’t the sun be shining more from a southeasterly direction as far north as the Glasgow to Edinburgh route in the summer. If I am correct then this is an extremely bad mistake for Rivit games to make.
Oh my. 90% of all Train Simulator Classic routes have this issue when using 2D weather. The reason there is in the files which specify the seasonal sun azimuth, they've put in positive values - resulting in the sun traversing the northern sky. In TSC it's easily fixed by modifying the file just putting a minus in front of the value. Though TSC has a second alternative weather engine called SilverLining (used by Run8 too) which uses real calculated daylight based upon the routes latitude and scenario date, instead of predefined values. Contact support and file a ticket.
