Hi all, just a quick question, was looking at some of my routes and have a few where there has been upgrades like for eg Just trains Western Mainlines to the electrified version or liverpool - manchester revamped, is there a way of using the scenarios from the original in the newer version?
I'm aware there may be some difference's in newer portals added or route markers etc so would it be a case of copying the scenarios over and resaving them on the new map if they used the same properties in the new map?
Only asking as take liverpool to manchester revamped, it doesn't have that many scenarios for it but the original has tonnes so just wondered if there was a way of putting them into the new map and perhaps updating them if need be to run on the other version.

If everything from the previous route is there in the revamped version you should be okay although if track layouts have changed then it may cause problems especially if it would have broken paths any of the services take. If any portals or route markers were removed or changed in the new version again it would cause a problem you would have to alter the services in the scenario editor to suit and I wouldn't guarantee sucess knowing the vagaries of the despatcher.

Just electrifying the route or adding new sidings etc shouldn't affect the ability of scenarios from a previous version to run.

The game doesn't like having duplicate scenario GUID numbers and may OOM on you, so you'll need to change the GUID numbers of the scenarios you clone, if that's above your skillset then you'll need to at least remove the scenarios from the originals of the routes you cloned (or downloaded edited versions of) and don't want to run, but the easiest way is just remove the original routes altogether once you've copy and pasted the scenarios folder.

I’ve tried this in a few routes like default ecml over to ATS KGX-KLN or the ecml merge(s), sometimes it’s just incompatible . Yes have to change the guuid then rebuild the cache.

It depends on the route. Chatham Main Line, for instance, would work in the Dover/Ramsgate route because the exact Chatham Mainline is actually part of the Dover/Ramsgate route. Castle Rock Railroad scenarios will work on the Workshop version, as another example (same with the other two as well).

However, if a route is completely reworked and the new one does not use the original within it, scenarios will not work. Bristol to Exeter is a good example of this. While Western Mainlines and Southwestern Expressways both include the same stretch of track, it's a completely reworked segment and, as a result, Bristol to Exeter scenarios will not work on either of the other routes. That said, any scenarios for Southwestern Expressways without the Reading addition may work on the Reading one except where some track work has been redone and relaid; where it might fail, it may be possible to repath a train in the editor (basically, edit and undo something in the timetable and I think all trains get checked) and the scenario may then work.
