Nowt to do with trains but I’m just watching England Ladies Euro 2025 qualifying game and the crowd are singing Sweet Caroline, as seems traditional these days. As someone who really loved this song when it came out, something puzzles and bugs me (I don’t know why, it just does). Why do people shout “So Good So Good So Good” during the chorus. This was never part of the song. I don’t begrudge them the enjoyment of doing so but I do wonder where and when it started. Is it just a sporting thing or do Neil Diamond fans also do this at his concerts?
People do it at concerts and other places its played live or otherwise. "Buh ba ba baaaa" isn't a lyric in the song either, both are just kind of a fun filler thing people add for fun. It occurs in other songs too by various artists. 2112 by Rush is a good example; live in concert people will fist pump and "hurrah" a few times during one of the guitar lines, but this was never recorded as the studio part. TLDR; it's just people having fun with a song
If that is Southgate and Holland's last game, then you know what, that is a sweet moment. Sometimes a step backwards must be taken to go forwards.
