This route idea starts in Schaffhausen in Switzerland. From there the line goes next to the Rheinfall, the largest waterfall in Europe. The line goes to Uster via Zürich. The total length is 66,7 km (41,4 miles). During rush hour a train runs every 30 minutes. Otherwise, one train runs here per hour. The line has the following stations: - Schaffhausen* - Neuhausen - Neuhausen Rheinfall - Jestetten (DE) - Lottstetten (DE) - Rafz - Hüntwangen-Wil - Eglisau - Glattfelden - Bülach - Niederglatt ZH - Oberglatt ZH - Rümlang - Glattbrugg - Zürich Oerlikon - Zürich Hardbrücke - Zürich HB (Central Station)* - Stadelhofen - Stettbach - Dübendorf - Schwerzenbach ZH - Greifensee - Uster *An Intercity service connects Schaffhausen and Zurich HB non-stop. The line starts in Schaffhausen. There are connections with the IRE line to Basel and Ulm, operated with a BR612 in BWegt skin, as well as the trains to Singen in Germany. With beautiful views of the Rhine and after Neuhausen the line makes a shortcut, where the S24 line goes in a different direction to Zurich. After a tunnel the line reaches Neuhausen-Rheinfall. *self-made photos The Rheinfall is something you must see. The beautiful river colour, all the green and Schloss Laufen next to it. The train station "Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall" for the S24 is located near the castle. Hopefully, a path to the Rhine Falls can be realized. Shortly afterwards the train crosses the Swiss-German border towards Jenstetten and Lottstetten, although you cannot see this on the overhead lines or station signs. After 8,2 km (5 miles) the train is already in Switzerland. The landscape is not as mountainous as you expect from the country, but with all the greenery and arable land you will not be bored. Just before Eglisau, the train crosses the Rhine again on the Rheinviadukt Eglisau. The station offers the possibility for the S36 to Waldshut via... Koblenz (Switzerland, not Germany). In Oberglatt the S15 from Niederwenningen joins the rest of the route to Uster and on to Rapperswil. Zürich Kloten Airport is located around Rümlang. In the photo you can see the railway line at the bottom left. In Zürich the line ends in the train interchange street and goes to the main station. Hardbrücke station used to be served. Most trains terminate at Zürich HB on the above-ground platforms. The S9 dives underground and uses the Müseumstraße platforms of Zürich Main Station. The trains arrive at Stadelhofen station via the Hirschengrabentunnel (deer moat tunnel). After the lines in the Zürichbergtunnel go to Stettbach. The line then goes above ground and branches off with the S5 and S14 to Uster. The train stops there and the other trains continue into Switzerland as an AI service. In some photos you can see the DPZ trains. The traction car is the Re 450. These trains are from the SBB and can reach 130 km/h (80.8 mph). With two double-deck cars and a double-deck control car, these trains run the S9 service on the Zürich S-Bahn.
This would be a fantastic route. However I am quite biased because I live 2 minutes walk away from Zürich Oerlikon Bahnhof and would really like to see it in the game. To some extent it avoids the problem that with current stock, Zürich HB would look empty as it uses the underground platforms, though the part around Hardbrücke is going to need some static stock to fill it in. It would be a very nice route. I have no idea how they would model the Rhinefalls though!
Before I forget: The S24 drives from Schaffhausen (actually Thayngen, two stations away) to Zürich HB (and Zug). This line goes via Winterthur. The total length of the S24 is 92,3 km (57,3 miles). Ending in Zürich would make the route 65,1 km (40,6 miles) long. The reason I don't suggest it, is the missing view of the Rheinfall, the massive work on the overground platforms of Zürich Main Station and because (if necessary) the S9 part between Zürich Main Station and Uster can be skipped and make the route just 47 km (29 miles) long. But if you prefer the S24 from Thayngen to Zug via Winterthur and Zürich HB (overground), you can always make a new suggestion.
My apologies. I wrote it in English, but at editing my translation program had probably translated it in my first language Dutch. I translated it back to English and hope it remains that way. Thanks for saying.
Let me guess looks like you want to recreate a Train Sim Classic route out of Schaffhausen Züricher Verkehrsverbund ZVV
I'm not very familiar with Train Simulator and its add-ons. I only know the line from Schaffhausen to Kreuzlingen, near Konstanz. Only Schaffhausen station can be adjusted for this route. Even the GTW-E only drives between Schaffhausen and Jestetten and is not worth the effort to rebuild for TSW. In total, it is a completely new route. But Zürich HB and its area could be used for other routes in the future (like to Luzern).
