SWT/SWR: Waterloo -Reading, Working, Weybridge and Windsor Time to suggest my local line because why not? It's a nice commuter Route with fairly regular freight services. Today I suggest the Windsor and Reading lines, a line branching off from Clapham westwards to serve the GWML at Reading, the flourishing towns of Richmond, Twickenham, Hounslow and Feltham as well as more. These are the stations: Waterloo Busiest station until this year where that title went to Liverpool Street. It has an astonishing 24 platforms to serve many SWR trains in and out of London, to places as far as Reading. Most trains for the Windsor lines use platforms 19-24, especially the refurbished ex-Eurostar terminal. For SWT era it would be interesting for Eurostar trains to use this however only if they can attain that licensing, which they won't. Vauxhall Sat close to MI6 HQ, the station is comprised of 8 platforms, the Windsor lines using platforms 1 to 4. Queenstown Road A rather small station with close links to Battersea park station. The rare LO service to battersea park and the BML runs above it. Clapham Junction Often titled as the Busiest station in the UK, the 17-platform station links people to the heart of London such as Stratford and Victoria, as well as distant regions such as Brighton, Weymouth and Southampton. The WL (Windsor Lines) use p3-6. Freight services can access the NLL from here too. (See the NLL suggestion) Wandsworth Town A 4 platform station, the slow lines running outside and the fast lines running inside. Putney Before this is point pleasant Junction, linking the WL to the London Underground to Wimbledon. A parliamentary service runs in the early mornings and night and used during incidents or engineering works on the SWML. Barnes Where the line splits into two, one to Richmond and one to Brentford to meet later on, two level crossings can also be found here West to the junction. (Richmond Branch) Mortlake North Sheen Richmond An interchange to the London Overground and District lines to Upminster and Stratford. St Margaret's We cross the river Thames shortly before rhe station for aome magnificent views Twickenham Home to the iconic Twickenham Rugby station and where we find old remnants of platforms facing London which were demolished for an unknown reason. The Kingston loop splits here however that will be covered in another suggestion. Whitton We'll only discuss Whitton Junction, where the line splits to Brentford to form the loop and to Feltham onwards. (Brentford Branch) Barnes bridge Crossing the wonderful Thames with a cool bridge structure with the station literally right before it. Chiswick Kew Bridge The line can diverge right just before the station to South Acton for connections with the GWML and NLL. You can also see the GTECH stadium in sight. Brentford The other part of the triangle to South Acton joins after Kew Bridge. Syon Lane Isleworth Hounslow Just ahead is Hounslow Junction. This Branch is normally for services to Weybridge. Feltham The station once both branches have joined back together. Just before the station I'd Feltham Depot, a new construction (or abandoned in SWT era) for housing of the class 701s. An ex-marshalling yard. Also the last station in the Greater London Boundary Ashford Staines (Windsor branch) Wraysbury Sunny meads Datchet Windsor and Eton Riverside Home of the iconic Windsor Castle, sometimes where the Queen visits, and also home to LEGOLAND! (Reading Branch) Egham Virginia Water Ascot Home for the famous Ascot horse races (?) And where the line to Alton splits Martins Heron Bracknell Winnersh Winnersh Triangle Idk where the triangle is. Earley Reading With connections to the GWML and other places. Trains: Class 458: Often overlooked for its ugliness and outdated look, we should have both the /5 and /0 (remember, SWT era, if you want the /4 just resting it) Class 450: Class 455: Class 707:
An amazing suggestion. It covers some amazing renowned stations and would compliment the London Commuter line
I would love the section between Waterloo and Guildford or the route that covers Richmond. There is a rumour regarding the idea that the route between Waterloo and Woking may feature in TSW5 but there is no evidence of that.
Somebody wrote about the route between Waterloo and Woking on the possibility of this featuring in a possible TSW5 game. You can search TSW5 possibility on the forums page to find out more. That user has no evidence though
Probably the Waterloo Loop Line? Can’t remember if that’s what it’s called, but it’s run by Class 455’s or 458’s, trains depart Waterloo and head via either Wimbledon or Richmond, then back to Waterloo. Would be quite fun imo and not too demanding.
I would love this route. There must be a lot of pressure on the dedicated developers at Dovetail so this should be a simple, fun route to have in the game. I like the Commuter style routes that are based in London
So the kingston loop In other words? So Waterloo-Richmond, goes down the kingston loop, then goes New Malden-Waterloo. If the Shepperton branch would added that'd be lovely for the 707 (only a few more stations and not too many more miles).
If i could have any: London Waterloo- Portsmouth Harbour including Hampton Court branch. (450, 455, 444 and 707) Realistically: London Waterloo - Guildford via Cobham d'abbon (which realistically would only have the 455 and 450 if we're lucky)
The SWR is an amazing line in particular the route to Portsmouth Harbour. This would be a great add on or a good route for a possible base game in TSW5
There are two 707 units running with South Western Railway as of now, in an unbranded state. They will soon be heading to Southeastern like the rest of the fleet.
which is what i said For those interested units still in service with SWT until April are: 707024 707030
