Talking Npcs Etc?

Discussion in 'TSW General Discussion' started by SD40Australia, Jun 25, 2023.

  1. Did Matt say something about wanting to do more with NPCs talking and interactivity?

On my suggestion for a French route....

Would be interesting to have some puzzles and have 10-15 questions for you to ask the NPC that talks back at you. Information can be used to find a special Le Mans car or something historic like a German Panzer tank hidden in a garage (not same garage as in real life so will be created for the route) (driveable too ROFL).

Some landmarks between Rennes and Paris could be points of focus on the route and for purchasers to discover (if they don't read the spoilers) and go solve some puzzles.

Could even find some lost photos or a journal and return it to the owner?

Flags of various nations can be found in unusual places (Maybe over 4-5 different scenarios) and will require you to search fields and walk through a few towns to find them. One scenario could be day after the storm and the wind blew it away...... etc

You could even be a special guest to wave the starting flag for Le Mans 24 hour race.....

I'm sure there must be plenty of events some stories could be threaded in benignly and providing historical background where players can learn some new things. And solve puzzles. Like at a land mark or castle the NPC would offer historical information then occasionally drop some hints where you can go search and find a puzzle piece....

Yea lets even make more short cuts on the timetable, so devs have finally the time to intruce all the fancy stuff.

Dont get me wrong here, but Tsw with its inconsistent features, taking heavy shortcuts on the railroad side lately should focus on quality in their routes in the first place.
Looks like glossop has the wrong ohle type, its not even about the bugs. There is no valid reason to introduce features on the path dtg is going with many poor releases in 2023.

They still can't solve basics like proper loading and unloading on the stations, empty stations, animations of sitting in the train, season clothing, etc

Passengers talking is why I don't like travelling on trains.

Finding a 5 car 800 from Swindon to Bristol Parkway and back, first time on a train in a year (admittedly travelling free as a retired railwayman), wedged in the vestibule reminds me why these days I prefer my Kia Sportage! That said, standing on a 800 is only marginally less comfortable than sitting on the rock hard seats.

Yes my comment was going to be down a similar route. All of the noisy ones seem to end up getting as close to me as physically possible.

Yep, just what TSW needs is more gimmicks.

    I despair.

When I was young and compartment trains were a thing, my parents would usually buy all six seats so we wouldn't be bothered by strangers.

Good old times. Nowadays trains have 1 big compartment spread over all the coaches...

Then the London Underground is the ideal place for you! Anyone talking on there is shunned... :)

Not like you can talk anyways over the deafening sounds the train makes during the journey :D

Not on DTG’s Bakerloo! Sounds more like Paris Metro on rubber wheels!

  14. So the Bakerloo is noisy as we hear when the railcars accelerate?

What is the Paris underground like? I watched a video on how not to get pick pocketed in the Paris underground yesterday LOL

You have to be suspicious at all times. The worst I think is ticket machines.

I often go to Japan and find it very safe. I love Japan.

That’s the more quiet part. The noisy part are the curves and gradients in the tunnels. The screeching is sometimes deafening.

Yes it’s this and the occasional section of residual jointed track the DTG version fails to capture. Would help if they added reverb to tunnel running but someone really needs to go out and spend a couple of trips riding and recording the sounds and buff up the experience.
