So.. I thought I'd just write this feedback to DTG, although I am sure many more have mentioned it before.

Something that I have complained on day 1 with the RSN BR 182 Taurus were the sounds. Those sounds remained with the MRCE Taurus and eventually got a bit better with the Dispolok Taurus.

Now we've got a "brand new" Taurus with much better sounds than any of the previous 3 Tauruses released. What I sadly don't understand is... why are those older Tauruses left with the old sounds? Is it really that difficult to adapt at least the sounds to the older rolling stock? There could be limitations I'm not aware of, of course.

I think they should all be updated to be on the same level of quality, not just sounds of course, but also physics and simulation.

Maybe something to look out for and be careful with in the future at least? It is kinda the same with the Class 66 if I am not mistaken. We get a lot of "variants" of the loco but only the newer ones are somewhat better than the older ones.

Sorry but it is not a way of copy-paste! Every sound set needs to be build in every loco so i guess there is you're answer!

Train sound updates are a lot of unpaid work!

    Often its not just sounds.

In the case of the 1116 it has new setup, i think the physics might be adjusted, and the sounds changed - so you'd need to transplant *all* of that over - which wouldnt work as the others have different physical controls and displays, so really what you're doing is re-authoring the content back into the older model. It's not hugely time consuming, but its a very long way from copy-paste-done. Plus, having done all that, you've gotta re-test the services, scenarios etc, so it rapidly balloons.

    Matt.

Thanks for you're answer! Years ago you had games where you changed the .wav file and rename it to the original one and it works but thats long ago and not possible anymore in games now days XD

It takes hours of work and if they don't expect a financial return then it will probably stay as it was, unless someone does it in their spare time for the love of the art.

I think that a collateral damage that has led to the dissolution of the preservation team is this, they no longer invest in improving the old stuff, (even though it is still sold most of the year at full price).
In fact, not even the newest routes are updated after release, as they were until not so long ago, when many bugs and errors were collected, and many of them were fixed with a patch a week or two after release. Now it seems that almost everything is quickly forgotten, unfortunately.

One small note, the first red br 182 was built for Rapid Transit, not RSN.

Sorry was the vinegar on sale? Before you missed it, they have released several updates this week based on our instructions, so complaining unabashedly is going a bit too far for me. I think that everything is being greatly exaggerated here on the forum and that this point is a kind of excuse to whine and whine without really coming up with good points that the creator can do something with.

Please, there is nothing to be sorry about.
If last week's updates are fine with you, that's fine with me. I guess sugar clouds and jelly beans were on sale :)

In my opinion, they are a joke. Take for example the Salzburg route, more than a month after the launch, dozens of customers have spent their time reporting bugs and errors in various threads or by submitting tickets. Many need an urgent solution such as services that cannot be completed due to red lights. And now, I copy and paste the patch notes:

    Rosenheim
    • First aid kit sounds should now be played when collecting wall mounted first aid kits found at stations.
    • Adjustments to scoring thresholds on the Malfunctioning Madness scenario to ensure gold and platinum medals are achievable as expected.
    • Fixed instance of a main signal way with a wrong placed PZB magnet on approach to Übersee.
    • Removed floating trees in the distance near Rosenheim
    Dopplestock
    • PIS will now include correct usage of umlauts
    • Added yellow line above door to reflect real life design.
    BR 111
    • Fixed safety system audio not playing after reloading from a save or when returning to the train from far away.
    • Fixed an issue where safety system indicators stopped working after reloading from a save.
    • Adjusted handbrake application force to be more prototypical
    • Adjustments to the tap changer system and how it reacts to the throttle lever input to be more prototypical
    • Various audio adjustments to brake squeal
This does not solve much in comparison to what has been reported. And I think there has been plenty of time since then to do more, provided sufficient resources had been devoted to it.

Yeah again a lot of complains with no text! I have told you already that you have to tell whats wrong there instead of telling what they have fixed....

Thanks for your response, Matt! I appreciate it! I figured it isn't as easy as just a copy-paste process, but it is a bit unfortunate that it requires that much time to re-test to make it all work. I personally think it would be worth it, but obviously my opinion is very much biased. :)

That is understandable, though at the same time I think in the long run it is worth to give things a bit of love and care. See their effort with the suspension simulation. People would surely go mad if only the newest stock was equipped with this. They're taking their time to work on a lot of things that were already released and that's great. I think that's not the only thing that is worth re-visiting. Besides, not all updates are done in exchange of money. See that recent update for the West Somerset Railway. DTG clearly is doing their best on this regard, but sadly the older Taurus locos were left out, hence why I opened up this discussion.

And thank you for the correction on the "RSN" claim. My mistake, I get the route names confused sometimes. Yes, I had Rapid Transit in my mind, the route in the Leipzig area.

since you are here... on this forum I came across two people who claimed that Taurus shakes excessively (used different wording) and that it derails at 220+ kmh... when I asked them where and how did they test this, they did that at Training Center circuit...

and because I tend to have anxiety/OCD issues, I went on and tested the hell out of those claims... did it on Training Center, then for the hell of it on Linke Rheinstrecke, Tharandter Rampe, Main Spessart Bahn, y know, winding routes... and yes, it does derail at around 220 (on Tharandter Rampe at 180 :D )... so, yes, as it would IRL, it derails when blasting over 200+ kmh on tracks barely designed for like 120 :D no surprise there... I was more surprised by the fact that it didnt derail much sooner :D

anyways, still with some leftover anxiety left (the thought of one of my fav locos ever being broken in-game is a scary prospect to me :D ), so I turned on some Free roam on Koln Aachen, Munchen Augsburg and Kassel Wurzburg aka all three truly highspeed designed tracks/routes and spawned Taurus + 9 Bmz... and... the loco stayed on tracks no problem at 230 kmh, no excessive shaking

can you please share your thoughts on this kind of claim even appearing? I know it sounds absurd... I wish I hadnt seen it, but I was curious on the feedback on forums, so I read all threads on this much anticipated route and loco... and the way my mind works (I really should seek professional help, I know, but it's pretty tough to find some in Slovakia), stuff like this can trigger days of not nice time

I have never mentioned any "copy-pasting" before Matt's answer on this topic. Hence I even mentioned there could be limitations I wasn't aware of.

I'm sorry, but this is something I can't really accept as a valid answer. The content is still sold at full price unless there's a sale. If they advertise an update to the content, there's most likely going to be some percentage of people who didn't own the DLC that will actually go and buy it.

First question.... Why you should do that? We have no wagons that are capable to run 220+ speeds.... Al IC coaches are maximized at 200km so that can explain a little

in free roam it kinda lets you run IC coaches behind Taurus and such at 230 kmh :) tried it before with BR 182 both from Rapid Transit and MRCE :)

went through the whole thing you referenced and found even more stuff there :) so they are basically improving the physics model and such, so the trains derail when they are supposed to... so I guess that each section/curve has its designed speed +certain amount of speed you can go above that before it detects conditions for derailment and you derail :)

anyway, thx for references and help :) gotta love this community :)
