This network of lines has a wide variety of freight and passenger traffic using it daily, with services operated by Northern, Grand Central, LNER & TransPennine Express, with DB Schenker & GBRf providing freight operations in the area. These lines total up to a length of 88 miles, providing lots of opportunities for the player to explore a vast network of routes in the former industrial heartlands of Northern England. Included Rolling Stock Class 158 in Northern Trains livery First introduced in the late 1990’s, the Class 158 has proved a reliable workhorse, still seeing service with Northern, Transport for Wales, ScotRail & Great Western Railway. Capable of 90mph, these units would be used on Northern local services from Bishop’s Auckland to Middlesbrough, as well as services from Hartlepool to Middlesbrough. Class 800/01/02 in LNER & TransPennine Express livery Introduced from 2019 onwards, these units have provided cracking service to the UK network so far. Capable of 125mph, they can be found on services from Liverpool to Newcastle (TPE) and services to Middlesbrough, Sunderland (via Newcastle) & Scotland. These units are available in 5 car (TPE & LNER) and 9 car formations (LNER). Class 60 in GBRf livery Introduced by BR in the early 1990’s, GBRf’s fleet of Class 60’s can be found operating services to & from Drax. 7 of these services would operate over the route between York & Hartlepool, with these using the York avoiding lines that are used by the majority of freight services in this area as well as Lumo services between London & Edinburgh. Their usage on freight was not as BR envisaged due to both the Class 66’s introduction and the Class 60’s having a top speed of 60mph.
