    Hello everyone,

When I try to create a terrain from the "dem" and "lidar" files in the editor, I run into the following problem:
When I'm in "route building mode" and have selected the "lidar" and "dem" files and click on "creating landscape" nothing happens. But no error message or anything similar is displayed. I looked at the official live stream tutorials and the tutorial on importing "lidar files" here in the forum and proceeded as described in the tutorials. There were no problems when editing the files in QGIS... Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance!

Did you clicked on the button "Use selected assets" before when you got them selected?

Yes, first I marked the files, then I selected "use selected assets" and then I clicked on "creating landscape".

Could you provide a screenshot of being in Route Building Mode and the settings for the subtab "Guides"?

    Do you mean "Guide Settings"?

I want to see what you got selected in the Lidar and KLM source settings, here:

Check the coordinates format used to define the starting point.

As I remeber when you clicked on "Use Selected Assets" these entries should be filled.

I would recommend you going through any of the tutorials which are available here in the forum another time and use the exact same steps in the order as indicated.

    These for example:

    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-terrain-creation-guide-for-beginners.75275/

    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/editor-documentation-collection.74478/

Plus as bremen commented the coordinates with which you initiate your project are also very important. People had some issues with these before.

I checked the coordinates again - but they are correct. I also changed the UTM zone back to 32. However, this hasn't changed anything.

I'll go through the tutorials again.

But I still have one question: I thought at the beginning that this wouldn't be of much importance, but after projecting the "lidar" files in QGIS, they were only displayed as white tiles on the OSM. Maybe that's where the error lies?

In Windows Explorer it's okay when they only show white in the file preview, but they should not be completely white in QGIS.

Were they already white when you imported them as the raw original files from your source or did they changed white only after converting/projecting them?

No, the files only became white after projection.

Don't know if this is correct (I still have not enough screenshots to look at).

Okay, but one problem after the other. Back to your initial issue.

The projection (and work overall) in QGIS is only to prepare your Lidar data (the high resolution heigth profile of the landscape) that you apply when you have your SRTM landscape generated.

What about the SRTM data (the low resolution landscape profile) in the .hgt files? At least these are ones which should generate you a low resolution landscape and should work either way, independent of your Lidar data is wrong projected/faulty by its source or not.

But since you said you have no landscape at all, I think you did something wrong with the import of either the SRTM or Lidar data into your project in the Editor (which also is proven by your screenshot since I see nothing selected there in the KLM or Lidar array entries).

So in the screenshot I didn't select any files at all because I completely removed the "Lidar" and ".dem" files. When I import and select these, they are shown as selected at the top, but nothing happens during landscape generation, not even the SRTM landscape is generated. (Should I upload a screenshot when the files are selected?)

I also chose the route without KML (the LIDAR tutorial by Lulon)
Is the route via Google Earth and KML more stable/better?

I think I've now found something I did wrong:

Do I first have to import the SRTM into the editor using Google Earth (KML) and then carry out the steps with the LIDAR files?

    So:

I have finally found the error. I didn't realize that creating a KML was important. After I loaded the KML into the editor and then used the ConsoleCommand to generate the landscape, it worked. The SRTM landscape has been created! Next, I carefully read Lulon's tutorial again. After I had completed all the work steps in QGIS, I imported the LIDAR and this time they were applied correctly.

    By the way:
The fact that in QGIS the tiles appear white after projecting is irrelevant. It still worked.

Thank you very much for the help!!!
