i have not only been asking for the ECML to be added for so long now.. but i always hoped the route would be Peterborough to Doncaster (and NOT London Kings Cross).. so thank you SO MUCH for creating this!!

as someone who knows this section of the route inside out, i cannot stress enough how amazing this choice of route section is.. and so much better than London to Peterborough would have been.

This is by far the most excited i've been in all the years i've played TSW, i honestly could not be happier, and finally thank you for sticking by us Gen8/PS4 users for this release, it's so appreciated that we get to experience this now

i see so often people being negative on these forums, so i wanted to share how genuinely happy i am with this announcement, just thank you thank you thank you!!

also the Austria route looks really good too, and happy to hear another Austrian route is in the works (I know from experience Wiener Neustadt to Graz is very scenic!)

but honestly Peterborough to Doncaster, modern era, i cannot ask for anything more.. thank you to every single person who has made this happen!

Yep, that's good, only look at the blind praise and distract from the fact that you are making people pay for an update that should be free and replacing a game that is not even a year old yet.

 

For a while now I've been hoping for a modern UK intercity route... I am not from the UK so I wasn't sure what route would be the best choice but I was definitely hoping for a Class 8xx (I am a big fan of the 395 in game).

I own most of the UK routes and I do like them but I was getting a bit tired of the stop-go-stop-go-stop-go of some of the commuter routes. And the two routes featuring the HST don't really let it stretch its legs. So far this route with the 801 feels like it will be up my alley.

 

I’m not going to pre order as I want to see feedback first, but I do like what I’ve seen. Excited to see ECML and Vorarlberg + the Vectron looks nice as well.

Also looking forward to Scenario Editor and Photo Mode.

I’m looking at it as a route package rather than a paid upgrade, so waiting to see what people think when it’s actually out.

 

Me too. I know I have a reputation as a sceptic and whinger but I am mostly positive about TSW4 and the choice of routes. And with Blackpool to Ormskirk on the way from JT soon, this is going to be plenty to keep us occupied heading into autumn and the winter. My deluxe preorder will be going in as soon as live on Steam.

I will pre order and I'm sure I will regret it on launch day but they surprised me with this presentation so maybe the same thing happens on launch day.

 

This is a joke right? The service variety and mixture of stopping and express services on the London to Peterborough section is unmatched. The Peterborough to Doncaster section is just a high speed slog.

 

I’m not even upset about the ECML, love it just wish it went to York or Leeds, would have made the route a 10/10

 

The pre-order for standard edition on PS5 is $53 CAD. That gives you 3 new routes.

ONE new route for TSW3 (not on sale) is $53.

I am sure the pricing is similar for other countries.

So the people moaning about having to buy an entire new game because of the cost are being a bit dramatic. If you are interested in ONE of the new routes, you are basically getting it for the same price as it would be on a TSW3 DLC plus all the benefits of the new game and two routes "free".

Exactly. I can't speak for anyone else but when I looked at the pricing it looks like a steal. People have been complaining about the price hike of routes with TSW 3 so this is a very good price.

I'm not that picky on specific routes besides not liking freight so I'm sure I'll enjoy every route of this bundle.

 

Indeed. If I do get it, the price for the 2 routes + loco that I want seems pretty reasonable. The rest is a bonus. Just want to wait and see what it’s actually like when it’s out,

 

All the feature upgrades, 3 new routes, flying scotsman and Vectron on top... not bothered what its called. Happy to pay and pre-ordered. Feels like a very positive step forward.

Forum feels a bit like... "here we are announcing nearly everything you asked for..." everyone complains... its TSW4.

Positivity is really rare nowadays on this forum.. I will probably buy the Deluxe or the special edition. (Good thing that I held me back to buy Linke Rheinstrecke and Boston Sprinter)

 

Yeah I’m a definite preorder too. I came out of the stream excited for tsw4. Deluxe edition is a good price and I even get a discount.

Yeah, I'm totally confused by the reaction.

Whatever we were getting, was always going to be paid for content, and the huge amount of work that must have gone into this, has to be paid for.

Great work Dovetail and I'm sure the less vocal (more realistic) will agree.

I just watched the Vorarlberg part again (I was in a meeting at work and trying to watch without the rest of my team noticing earlier). It does look gorgeous. Obviously they have cherry picked clips, but it does look very promising.

 

Cool to hear! Will check out the section in detail, rode on it a few weeks ago in the Azuma on the way to Edinburgh.

 

I'm Really excited for the editor tools, it's really going to open up the game to so many possibilities.

Also I'd also like to shout out the over all presentation of the livestream, really nicely put together and a great selection of routes.

 

They aren’t making you pay for it. Same as Apple doesn’t make you pay for a new iPhone.

 

i was also satisfied about TSW4, especially about Metrolink. never expected to see homeland's manufacturer made stock in TSW... i mean, we're not european/american giants. so really, thanks for selection on the route and the car, DTG.

Yes but we are talking about TSW 4 : ) TSW 2020 will not disapear from your computer because it's no more supported

 

I am quite surprised too. I mean I'm no fanboy but when you take into account the discounts, the PC Steam Deluxe version comes in at £40 which for the new content is an absolute bargain. Yes some of the features like better HUD design (no more getting caught out by speed limit changes on top of each other) have been asked for but that's just one core feature. the possibility of getting in and doing some decent scenario and route creation is just too tempting to ignore. TSW4 brings the game right up to where it needs to be.

Yes, I agree in general and I will pre-order the deluxe edition shortly. Am I right in thinking there's no added value in the Special Edition if I own the 3 routes?

I'm not sure I would agree that " TSW4 brings the game right up to where it needs to be " though. There are still some elements left over from previous editions that still require attention, notably the NYT fixes and Rush Hour passengers in some routes.

Overall, I think the new stuff is fairly priced and the US and Austrian routes are very intrigung. The UK thing seems to be an LGV set in the English Midlands which is not interesting to me - don't care for high speed plastic.

The Scotsman I will have fun with.

 

Why Peterborough to Doncaster though when Kings X is the termini and most famous station on that route? Seems odd. Harry Potter fans will be miffed.

 

I'm excited about livery designer 2.0. 1000 layers, FINALLY! I'm glad they followed Forza & modders on that. Much needed upgrade on this front.

But I tell you what, it'll be criminal if they don't include the oxblood IC 225 livery class 91 as a DLC. Or even a Deltic railtour for that matter.

There’s one thing I’d like in the future for the livery editor, it’s the fact we can upload logos or images for personal use like in Gran Turismo 7 by exemple. Sadly it’ll be a little bit hard with licensing.

The British Government barely subsidize our actual rail network, they certainly aren't going to do it to a game about it.

Yep, three routes which you are forced to buy if you want to keep receiving updates for the content you have already bought. This doesn't require a whole new game. try to keep up mate
