I want to post this separately again to emphasise the importance a bit. To make a long story short: there are no ungated level crossings on the line in reality (this does not apply to branches). Yesterday, when I was driving for the first time, I saw at least 3 level crossings that didn't seem to have any form of protection. I actually wanted to list them all first, but I can make it simple: gates belong to all crossings.
Man, I wonder how those get missed. I mean I suppose the filling bits (the rubber pad thingies that connect the road and the rails) are there. So if you're placing those, how do you miss the protection equipment? For a train simulator, they sure miss important railway related details quite often, which I find strange. I understand that not everyone from the team is a train nut, but very often even non train related games make railway crossings and similar things look better.
It is strange that the complete technical equipment at the level crossings is missing. It looks like it was simply forgotten. That's why I hope it will be added via an update later.
This isn’t even a new thing, believe it or not. In DTG’s last release, Sherman Hill, you’ll find quite a few crossings that lack signage. Most of the crossings that do have signage either don’t work at all, or they have very pathetic signage. The crossing near Cheyenne literally uses a traffic light for crying out loud.
To add onto this, this is two of the crossings I have noticed on just my first run on the route alone. Attached are also the rough location they are at on the map. We know they have the art and assets for it, so I'm not sure how these are being missed, especially when you have the parts where the road goes over the crossing which has been done, like what Dinosbacsi said.
Thanks a lot for the screenshots. That would have been my task as creator of the thread but I was too lazy...
No problem I'm sure there's more, but that's at least 2 I spotted. If I see any more, I'll make sure to add them too.
I saw these as well and glad to know that I am not crazy that there is no protection at all. Going back to SH noted above, there are what is known as farm road crossings along the line, and these are lucky to even have a saw buck on them.
So I just waited at a level crossing to see it opening and realized that where there actually are barriers, that is all there is. No lights, no Andreaskreuz, and worst of all the barriers don't even open (I checked, the blocks were clear in both direction but no movement) - it is really astonishing how lackluster level crossings on this route are, I wonder how something like that can be released. I hope this will be fixed quickly, that is really on an unacceptable level
