I have a few questions about the new TSW5 route editor. (I think many people are curious about these): 1. How is the library system built. 2. Where are the libraries responsible for the DEM/SRTM/Terrain (and the location of LIDAR files) created or how should they be created so that we can use them to generate the terrain for the different routes? (like in TSC) 3. How should objects used on another route be added to the new route so that we can use them on the new route? (this had to be specified in the right-hand window in TSC - Provider and Product) Of course, we use these objects to specify the required route. 4. Where are the files for the new route located and where are they created? How is the library system for the new route built? [In TSC, this was the Assets (objects, trains) and Content folders] 5. How can the route be saved? If I want to share, which files should I consider? 6. What are Plugins and what exactly are they for? How do they work? I really want to understand and learn about them. Thank you very much for your help.
I hope I can give you a short answer to your questions about the file structure. The starting point is to create a new Content Only Plug In with the name of your route - as described in DTG_Matt's tutorial. The Plug In will appear in the Editor along with all the other Routes you have purchased and is effectively the main folder for your route. All the content you create should go in the Plug in and then you can save and back up the folder to another drive to avoid losing your content. This is especially important if you have to uninstall / reinstall the Editor for any reason. Within your Plug In "folder" you can create whatever subfolders you like but it is probably best to follow the structure of another DTG route. I think you must have a folder called "Map" where the editor will store your route map and build data . As they are finished routes I don't think the DTG games have a folder for Lidar data so I created a folder called Terrain Data with subfolders for SRMT Data , LIDAR data and kml files for the route path and markers. If this your first route in TSW there are a couple of things you should be aware of : 1. As far as I know it is not possible to get your own Route into the game (even your own copy) and you will have to run your scenarios in the editor. If anybody has done this I would be happy to be corrected. 2. I don't think you can use any of DTG's landscape materials so when you have set up your landscape it will be Unreal's standard grey check texture until you create your own Landscape material. Hopefully this will help you get started but you should certainly refer to the DTG tutorial covering route creation and the other tutorials which have been collected together by other members of the community. Good Luck !!
