Moving the lever in a train is pretty much the core experience of driving a train. The majority of people that like trains enough to try TSW have controllers all over the place, including at least one throttle - why not support these natively? It's like a flight simulator that doesn't support joysticks, or a racing game that doesn't support wheels. They finally have ONE very special specific controller in the game - which baffles me even more since it shows axis support is possible. This relatively simple feature has been lacking in every version that DoveTail has ever produced - and its been requested every time a new version comes out, so it's clearly intentional. Is this a philosophical thing?
It's talked about off and on in the streams and on the forums, but, apart from increased support for Raildriver and TrackIR, there's nothing on the Roadmap that would indicate any further support for external hardware.
I can only assume it's because it's so far down the list of priorities they've not got to it. RailDriver support is still in beta with no timeframe for when it will be "done".
That’s a sweeping statement that simply isn’t true. Some people who have been using other train sims that do support bespoke controllers may have multiple throttles and other contraptions lying around but not a majority of train fans who are likely to try TSW. That’s a whole bigger set of people which includes people who wouldn’t even know that those peripherals exist, and many more that don’t even have a PC. There will be a small minority that have at least one throttle and are waiting for them to be supported, not a majority. They should be supported of course but let’s not overstate how many people have bespoke controllers.
