There was a very good sound mod available, which is broken now with tsw5 and the patheticly updated 187. No words, its the one tsw example why devs should not touch a loco when their skills or ambitions are not up to standard. Yes the question remains, who is gonna fix that mess and who is gonna release a worthy br187?
Trying to remember whether this was Rivet or Skyhook? One would hope if the latter, the new management might revisit it.
It was Skyhook this time, they tried to fix it but failed, then DTG tried too by remixing correctly the sounds, in vain. The best thing to do is to forget that big LOVE unless you’re on PC with a good mod but, for people like me on console, let’s pray for a future release of the 187 or even the 147, I won’t say no to that.
A Skyhook developer once mentioned they might take a look at options for this loco. Would be nice to get any news on that since mentioned statement was a year ago or so. At least a "no we have no plans for it" would be enough, so i would atleast know i can deinstall it after paying the rather high sale price for it. Wouldnt it be worth it to at least put it on the basic level of like DTGs br 185? Its not like we are asking for a expert loco here and since its also affecting DTGs coregame experience, maybe they need to put some pressure on Skyhook for that. Please make it more than an earkilling AI only loco.
In my case from what I've seen (and I wish I had looked at reviews first...? That this DLC is just.... You may as well pretend it doesn't exist. At all. I made a forum post about it having noticed that there was a large amount of sounds missing completely. Only to be then told to get a refund ASAP, in which case it's now too late for me to do so.
Besides the sounds issue, is there a way of turning the headlight on? Using both the command on the desk AND the selector behind the seat, but it is either red or off, but I might be forgetting something? I did not see anything on the menus in the driver's screens either
What works for me: 1. activate cab 2. set signal lights to auto 3. on right screen: - press 8 - then press E for signalleuchten - then 1 or 2 depending on which cab you're in (i was in cab 2, it says somewhere on the ceiling) -then again 1 to activate lights/ 2 for rear lights 4. activate the lights with the light sitch below the screen
I find it crazy how a mod was able to fix all of that, but both Skyhook and DTG aren't till this day able or willing to fix it. Not even the most special feature of the 187, it's "last mile mode", is to be seen which could have been quite interesting for backing up into the Elverlingsen Powerplant of RSN.
What honestly interests me is what the intern thoughts at Skyhook are for this one. Is this like the elephant in the room no one wants to talk about? Last year a Skyhook dev confirmed they look at options so seemingly there is movement within. Otherwise this statement is 1 year old without any news from it, so thats the end of any hopes for it.
Since the Railpool license exists, it would be cool to get the Railpool 187, which does have the Last Mile Diesel option, as frequently demonstrated by YouTuber Rotausleuchtung.
It was just last week on discord that one of the Skyhook people mentioned it again actually. In response to the question whether a Cargo Line Pack with German stock was planned, they said that such a pack is on their internal roadmap somewhere and since they can't use a UK Class 66 for this one obviously, their DB BR 187 would be the only loco they have in stock for that. So to actually sell such a gameplay pack, since the original 187 is universally hated for the known reasons and therefore no one in their right mind would buy it despite wanting the new goods wagons, it only seems nessecary to fix it. But that's only my speculation and a tiny glimpse of hope I have left for this loco. I mean it's not all bad, the model is more than acceptable and the basic scripting functions in cab to set up the engine plus the traversable engine room were a big thing back when it first released and still kinda is. The only other german locos with a modeled and traversable/interactive engineroom are the DB BR 101 expert version, the DB BR 401, the Siemens E64SU derivates and the E94 derivates. Granted, the Siemens loco and the ICE 1 couldn't have been made without the engine room since they only have doors to their engine rooms to enter them. They'd "just" have to change about everything else about it. So I'll be optimistic for a change here and look forward not only to a fixed 187, but I even have faith enough that once that one's fixed, the next logical step would be a passenger version of it, the 147, maybe even with high entry Dostos and it being their first Passenger Line Pack in the future. If done right, it'd sell like hot cakes and there would be ten new community made timetables within a few weeks. I mean, a man can still dream, right?
