Well done DTG. The ScotRail BR Class 380 EMU is a nice experience! It's definitely one of the best units so far.

I have attached two of my screenshots.

Does it have the new suspension tech?

    It has one handle… :)

Seriously, is it really that good, given DTG’s past record on EMU’s in particular sounds?

Might be one to consider in a sale, then.

No not that I am aware of. But wasn’t the suspension update supposed to happen in July? It’s July 30th. Maybe they meant July 2025?

I agree one of the best yet. The sounds, sound realistic and the modelling is very well done.

It’s definitely on the easier side to drive. Which is funny, because the “difficulty” rating in the menu is a 5, lol.

I’m not a big EMU guy either, but if you’re going to drive an EMU, it might as well be a good one. And ideally on a good, short route- this way I don’t have to drive it for an hour and 20 minutes (like with BCC).

So I’d say the 380 on CCL is probably the ideal EMU experience for me. Well done, good sounds, good route (insanely busy), short and sweet services, etc.

It’s a nice easy “zen out” type experience at the end of a workday for me, when I don’t really feel like running anything particularly intense.

Can you show me where to find these difficulty levels. Never seen them before?

It’s in the same spot as all the other unit info in the menus (like manufacturer, engine, years built, etc). Basically when you click on a unit in the menu it will give you those details… it’s at the top line of those details

FYI the difficulty is pretty meaningless, doesn’t serve any purpose, nobody really pays attention to it. They probably just set this one at 5 by accident tbh.

The sounds are absolutely - and I mean that literally - spot on. Physics are too.

One-handle, yes, but it is quite fun and is definitely one of, if not the, best EMUs in TSW.

If you’re still not convinced by people here, maybe look at some reviews? Or even better, form your own opinion by comparing what you hear in non-commentary videos of the 380 to videos of the real thing?

Such an improvement over the cramped broom cupboard cab on the 385. I've never traveled on either units but the sounds seem pretty high quality. I'll love it even more once someone clever can build a joint 380/385 Timetable for Edinburgh - Glasgow as the Cathcart Circle really doesn't put the 380 through its paces.

Definitely worth the price and gave Cathcart Circle a new lease of life for me. It's a great loco for the price when compared to other releases of the same value.
