Merry Christmas everyone, hope everyone is doing well, apologies about the lack of suggestions, this is due to me being busy, but on the other hand, this is my last suggestion for 2022, I'll be back for 2023, don't worry anyway to the suggestion... Hello, I would like to suggest the British Rail Class 50 for the Diesel Legends of the Great Western add-on for Great Western Express as the 50s were triumphant on the GWML during the time the DLOTGW DLC was set Training (In Training Center): Class 50 Introduction Scenarios: Paddy Hoover: (Difficulty - 3) Drive a 50 on an express from Reading to Paddington while following a semi-fast service stopping at Maidenhead, Slough, West Drayton etc. Hoovering along the GWML: (Difficulty - 1) Drive a 50 from Paddington to Reading with nothing in front of you, so it's greens all the way Mae Hoovers Broken: (Difficulty - 4) A 50 has broken down at Slough so you have to collect it utilizing another 50, bring said 50 from Old Oak Common to Slough and bring the failed set back to OOC but the line is busy today so getting to Slough isn't as easy as you think it is Timetable: Either incorporated into the current DLOTGW timetable or a separate timetable with the original stock and the 50 included (like the 313 timetable on ECW) Like I said at the beginning, this is my last forum suggestion this year, I'll be back with some banging route/loco suggestions for all of you, all I ask is for everyone to have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I'll see you down the road in 2023, well I'll see you down below but whatever , anyway, hope you enjoyed this one and I'll see you next time, for one last time, it's goodbye from me
So, you want a DLC for a DLC for a DLC? I mean, I'm not against a Class 50, as long as it isn't limited to Diesel Legends.
Basically, yes , well the 50 could layer onto WSR, maybe WCL as well, can't think of anywhere else off the top of my head where the 50 would be feasible
Personally I would like the 50 to come with a riviera line (Exeter to Plymouth) route so then it can layer onto both diesel legends and West Cornwall.
Class 50 would be great but as touched on above, needs something a bit more challenging than Paddington Reading back and forth. Part of the Waterloo to Exeter would be a great stamping ground.
But as said by me above, DLOTGW is the most logical route in game at this point in time, hence why I chose it Waterloo-Exeter would be a great route in TSW in the future, other than the 50, what other rolling stock would suit that line then
I knew about the 159 but I meant loco-hauled days, 33s would suit BR Blue along with the 50s on express or stopping services along that line
That's true, the 50 could be used on alternative routes but I've suggested it for Diesel Legends specifically, while not everyone will like my choosing, it was the only route I thought of at the time of writing
Its a great idea to get it layered on Diesel BP, getting some alternative locos for it would be amazing!
Yes adding the cl.50 into the diesel legends with additional railtours and heritage services. Looking forward to whoever is gonna make it.
If it was made, it would be DTG who would make the 50 as DLOTGW was a DTG DLC for GWE which was also a DTG DLC
if i may suggest, would the class 50 be more suited to the Cotswold line and west of England rather than DLOTGW as it has too many issues to deserve another dlc. Also the Cotswold line and west of England line in my opinion would allow the class to go to its max speed rather than stopping once you reach 90mph because of reading which it and the rest of DLOTGW is GWE but with older rolling stock with no effort being put into making the route correct for its era. Plus, they weren't introduced to the western region till 1974 as beyond Crewe was electrified in 1973 and its set in 1973 despite it looking like the late 80s so it wouldn't work. As I'm typing this I just remembered something, if it were added would it include mk2d-fs or mk1s so we aren't stuck with br mk2as which are just annoying to see nearly on every old br route. Sorry if I'm ranting but this is just my opinion and your are free to believe in yours or view mine with scepticism.
The Class 50s only started working the WR around 2 or 3 years after DLOGW is set (1971?). As much as I would like to see the Class 50, other classes would be a better fit such as Class 22, 35, 117/121, 123 and 128. Even Class 42/43 Warships were rarely seen at Paddington at this point as they were mostly on Waterloo to Exeter services or withdrawn.
I would love to see a class 50 but it would really need its own route. Diesel Legends is totally unrealistic anyway, unrealistic formations running alongside trains which weren't in that area at the time it is set (class 101) on a route set in a totally different time period, Something like Exeter to Paignton/Plymouth or Salisbury to Exeter, I would love to see Waterloo to Exeter but that isn't going to happen this side of the next millenium! Or maybe a new GWML set in the late 80's going from Paddington to Oxford and Newbury.
I am not sure when DLGW is set as you have class 52's running with headcodes so pre 1976 running alongside class 101's which were not seen on this part of the line till the late 80's and other loco's with headcode boxes plated over as running in the late 1970's and 1980's. I would rather a complete new route rather than any additions to the diesel legends pack.
Cotswold Line mid eighties Oxford to Worcester would be a good option, albeit not hugely massive service frequency at that time. Many off peak services were worked by DMU's so an opportunity to bring in a Class 117 as well.
No I don't take offence to that at all, that is actually a valid point you've made, I don't think that you're ranting, so no need to apologise mate , thanks for the information
It was either the 50 or the Warships I thought about writing, the Warships are fantastic diesel locos anyway
Agree with you here, I need to do a Waterloo-Exeter suggestion at some point, I'll do it backdated too as long as I get information on rolling stock from not just yourself but everyone in the discussion, I've got 33s, 47s and 50s in terms of loco-hauled and 159s in terms of multiple units
Not a bad shout actually Vern, good idea, the 117 could layer onto WSR on the 101 DMU services as well
If Waterloo to exeter were added.wouldnt people complain that the other lines out of Waterloo were taken into consideration. As people aren't happy with BCC due to not all of brimingham new streets platforms being opened for the palyers this would be the same for Waterloo to exeter. Also you'll need to add 08s as they operated as shunters at Waterloo.
I don't know if I've mentioned it already but would it layer onto wcl for express services. Plus will it be unrefurbished or refurbished as they both had different noises I think that made them different. Also will they have nameplates or is the setting of DLOTGW before they were named.
Wasn't there a Class 50 in development for TSW? I remember seeing an in development shot of one doing the rounds a fair while back. Hopefully it'll come to fruition someday. It's about time we had more BR Diesel classes added to the game. TSW2 got no new locomotives, the last was TSW2020's Class 20.
Not just BR Blue, I think BR Green should get some much needed attention too. Get some Green stock in without the yellow warning panels, this would allow DTG to do a steam/diesel crossover era based route which would be amazing!
BR Green is even more underlooked than BR Blue as all the loco-hauled diesel routes are BR Blue , we need BR Green coaches in TSW, please DTG
The Diesel Legends pack would be more appealing if it were to apply to more than one route - a BR Blue timetable for WCL using this stock would be great and much more era-appropriate. If that were to happen, a Class 50 could then feature as a new loco.
