Ok, so, it isn't. But still. The 225, the Electra, the Class 91 is SUCH an iconic train. A legend in its own right. After the disaster that was BRs management of the APT tilting train project, Electra was the result of BR outsourcing design and getting back on track with a superb, futuristic train to eventually take over from the Class 43! These look absolutely incredible, especially in their traditional Intercity livery! The sound they make at slow speed, when pulling away, is awesome! When one passes you at max line speed, the sudden noise and speed, it's like a gigantic hit of aggression flying past you! These are still in service although not for much longer I would guess! Dovetail games, you have to jump on this!!! East Coast Main Line is fantastic, it's busy, it's beauty. But it hasn't reached it's full potential just yet. Imagine trundling along in your Class 66 at 50 mph with 3000 tons of TEA tankers on the back ... Minding your own business, windows down, summers day and WHOOSH!!!! Out of nowhere, Electra with that beautiful front end passing you .... And it's gone, as fast as it arrived! Please Dovetail. You have to do this!
Couldn't agree more - 225 is a must. DTG likes to have access to the real trains (as far as I know this is why we got 801 not 800), and they won't be around to sample for much longer. DTG Alex - Please may you feedback the suggestion from Cleggsta to the relevant person/team? Even as a paid add on, it would add some more variety to the ECML and would be a fantastic addition. Thank you
I asked on a live stream if there was any plans for any additional dlc for the ECML and was told flatly "no" so I doubt a 91 is in the radar sadly. A shame as it gets a little boring just driving 801s up and down all day.
it’s likely on a radar of consideration along with a lot of things, being told no plans is not uncommon, you will never be told yes until everyone is. _____________________________________ personally I would really like to see the LNER Class 91, probably more so than the 800 series tbh, despite what my profile pic may suggest (in fact/honesty I considered a bit of sly sort of subliminal message by changing my profile pic to a 91 after ECML released but I couldn’t find a good enough pic better than my current so idea was abandoned )
I have so many memories of travelling on a 91 - I also remember being rather pleased the journey wasn't on a 'smelly train' which is what I designated the HSTs due to the diesel smell. I would really like to see the option to uncouple the loco from the carriage sets in free roam too - and perhaps that option for a formation in scenario planner. You could do light loco moves from depots. Changing your profile picture isn't a bad idea haha - I've done mine now
it may be, I did think about having it change to what loco I would like to see next all the time. It does seem to indicate that person has a particular interest to the one they use, which could prove slightly useful to DTG in knowing what could be a good one to bring to TSW etc.
Think it would be nice if they done the King’s Cross to Peterborough section with a 91 as the train, as well as adding it to the existing route. Gotta hope the end goal is a full east coast line albeit split into sections. The 91 is pretty iconic so has to come at some point.
would be good to get the whole thing in, or/probably in good sized sections, never know one day it may be easier for route connectings though it may best for the 91 as a loco add on and layered in wherever it goes, I think the Peterborough to London section may suit one of the local trains being that routes new train or its area busyness may be reduced
Note that I said faster. Any section eventually gets repetitive but this section we have will get repetitive faster.
It’s a very generic and particularly lacking standout section of track, and adding in the fact it’s mostly all mainline/same type of services, the feeling of repetition is higher than other parts as the uniqueness and intrigue is limited. it’s definitely not bad and a great puzzle piece of a section for hopefully the whole of the ECML (minus it probably should have gone to York and have had the complete line in 4 parts)
But that's just the nature of train driving. Eventually, all routes become repetitive, even if service variety differs.
they tend to do that but as also stated by the other user above some are more vulnerable to repetitiveness at higher rates than others for various reasons. other reasons can be length, for example I think IOW is a good route but it’s a lot easier to make that feel repetitive than say Dresden Riesa.
But compared to IOW, which has fixed service patterns, there are different patterns on the ECML on the section we got. There's variety in the services offered. Not repetitive as far as I'm concerned.
by the same description LGV is classed as varied service patterns as not all trains stop at Aix En Provence, but like with ECML Doncaster to Peterborough I think it’s a low requirement to achieve on that compared with other routes like Dresden or Blackpool for example and of course not the only factor on the topic of causes of repetition in routes.
At the end of the day, there's only so much you can do in a game before it becomes repetitive. It doesn't matter how many services there are, how varied the route is. Train driving is just driving point to point no matter which route or service, the only difference is stopping points.
Another reason (that I forgot about) as to why we need to be able to uncouple the loco from the carriages - to use the blunt end!
It would be good if the corridor between the two cabs (if this exists on this train) was functional too - as discussed in other channels, even click on the door and it teleports you through.
I mean the main cab and the blunt end in that single vehicle - there definitely isn't a door between the main vehicle and the carriages as that is where the blunt end is
I believe it does I too hope those kind of things get put in where possible, like with the DB103 I couldn’t understand why they leave some out even when they look fairly well modelled.
I'd love a class 91 in the game! The railway I work at actually has one in preservation (Bo'ness and Kinniel RAILWAY (S.R.P.S) ) Sad thing is it seems like I'm more likely to get in the cab of that irl than I am in a game at the moment. We need the class 91 in tsw. It would really make the ECML feel Alive!
Here's something for the cause, I made a key art for it. So let's theorize to what a potential pack could include. Extra HD liveries? Personally I'd discount the cola can since the the new 'IC oxblood' is the most modern LNER standard but since 91119 is currently & proudly flying the iconic Swallow livery, there's no reason not to include that! Now as a bonus, for variety's sake we could include 91106 when it received a white replacement valance after an apparent impact late last year. It's not standard but boy does it elevate it to how it should look. Scenarios, how many 5-7? I'd say 7 since the class 700 has as much. Blunt Force Rescue (difficulty- 3): 'Due to a breakdown of a power car at Newark Northgate you'll need to take a replacement locomotive, blunt end first, from Doncaster West Yard in order to tow the delayed Leeds-Kings Cross service via Peterborough.' Vans & Hold Ups (difficulty -4): There's reports of an incident involving a tractor losing control near a crossing between Retford & Doncaster, causing delays up and down the line, continue this evening Leeds bound DVT service from Grantham with care and keep an eye out for more potential hazards along the way. Be sure to contact signallers accordingly. Aaand that's all I can think of for the time being (feel free to chip in). Quite like scenarios involving the world at large, set piece incidents, animals on the line etc. so something along those lines too. We'd also have to consider services added. According to LNER diagrams from the 225 Group we have 24 services per week day, 22 on the Saturday and 16 on Sunday. So a healthy 72 services overall. I know I'd pay £12.99 for that!
*Crys a little* I genuinely thought that was real before I read it. Very well done on the artwork! Wow!
That key art is fantastic! Re scenarios - we could possibly also have a thunderbird rescue - something like ‘A tree has fallen on the OHLE. 2 tracks are blocked and power remains off for the area. Rescue a stranded 225 using your West Coast Railways Thunderbird’ (we could just use a 47 rather than 57). Not 100% sure if couplers are compatible though.
It would be nice to see some of the named liveries too. Wouldn’t be too hard, as most are just a plaque so once you’ve modelled that you can just copy and paste and change the writing. Some would be a whole new livery though. There absolutely must be that polished shiny metal + 3D effect though. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_91#List_of_Class_91_locomotives 91107 Skyfall 91110 Battle of Britain 91111 For the Fallen 91114 Durham Cathedral 91127 Neville Hill (Only included ones that are operational as of this date and, seeing as this is a suggestions thread and my list needed to be whittled down, only ones I think would add particular value).
I'm glad the illusion was convincing enough, thanks! Name plates could work too, since they figured a way around the GWR class 43 for livery designer. And yeah that scenario sounds good, could even include 47813 with the snow plough, similar to the ROG 37 job. Though I'd take a DRS 57 definitely. No details on this pic but it says it's a 47 at least.
I think 91101 is also operational having seen it in King’s X a few months back, named Flying Scotsman
