I'm sure this has been suggested before but as my local line I think the line from Lynn to Cambridge would be wonderful, as a high speed electrified single track line (only one I believe) it hold some amazing interest as well as wonderful sights along the Norfolk landscape following the River Ouse as well as the beautiful city of Cambridge

    Route Details

    • 45 ish Miles of track
    • Middleton Towers Branch
    • Kings Lynn T.C
    • Kings Lynn Station (3 platforms only 2 used and 2 Sidings)
    • Watlington Station
    • Downham Market Station in its NSE style and single siding
    • Littleport Station
    • Ely Station
    • Ely Papworth Sidings for static stock to be displayed
    • Waterbeach Station
    • Cambridge North Station
    • Cambridge Station
    • Cambridge EMU depot and carriage washer
    • 50 minute journey

    Locos / units
    • Class 365
    • Class 317
    • Class 66 + IIA aggregates wagons
    Layers
    • Class 700/0
    • Class 66 (freight + rhtt)
    • Class 158
    • 60103 Flying Scotsman
    • Class 47 + mk2 and mk3 coaches
    Route interest
    • Middleton Towers freight Branch line for gbrf aggregates services
    • Downham Market Station in original NSE branding
    • The great river Ouse
    • Ely Papworth Sidings
    • Ely avoiding line and North+West junction
    • Ely reception
    • Cambridge North Sidings
    • Cambridge EMU Sidings
    • Platforms 1&4 at Cambridge being one of the longest in the UK and split by a double track crossover junction
    • Watlington and Littleport both can only fit 4 coaches max so 8 car services will need selective door opening to allow only front 4 coaches doors to unlock

    Scenarios
    • Royal visitors: The Queen is heading to King's Lynn today on her final visit on the train to get to Sandringham, drive this special non stop service from Cambridge to Kings Lynn, just keep an eye on signals...
    • Struggling sand: The 08:15 sand train arrived into Kings Lynn T.C this morning and failed just as it was ready to go, take this Class 66 down from Ely North Junction to collect it and drag it to Ely Reception
    • Wiring problem!: oh dear! Some wires have fallen just outside of Ely causing massive delays, take this pair of 365s as far as Ely before taking them back to Cambridge Sidings
    • Electrostar of the show: your on the first ever test run of the class 387 between Cambridge and Ely, then to kings Lynn carriage siding then back to Ely before taking it to Cambridge platform 8 for pictures
    • Smile for the camera: 365s are a fan favourite on the railway, take this special charter organised by great northern from Cambridge to Ely, back to Cambridge into the EMU Sidings then down to Kings lynn non stop where it will then run up to London Kings Cross driving as far as Cambridge North
    Timetable
    • 2019 timetable
    • Hourly trains out of Kings Lynn and Cambridge
    • Class 317 services from Kings Lynn to Liverpool street as well as Cambridge North to Liverpool street and vice versa
    • Gbrf Class 66 aggregates freight services from Middleton towers including empty moves to Middleton towers starting from Ely North Junction
    • Full Ely Freight and EMR services (AI only)
    • Flying scotsman railtour service from Cambridge as far as Ely
    • Class 66 railtour from Cambridge to Middleton towers and back
    • Possibility for Class 720 and 755 Layers if further greater anglia dlc releases in future
    • AI only Class 700s at Cambridge to represent Cambridge to Brighton services as well as 8 car 387s and 700s on platforms 2 and 3 to represent Cambridge to London Kings Cross Stopper services
    • Class 66 rhtt services around Cambridge, Ely and Kings lynn
    • ECS moves in and out of Cambridge Sidings as well as Kings Lynn Sidings
    • Once every hour 365s for the Ely to Kings Cross services typically departing from P3

    Future DLC opportunities
    • Modern 2024 timetable with class 387/1/3/7 variants and Class 69 in GBRF livery
    • Colas rail Class 37s and NR coaches for Class 37 test train that runs around the area once a month
    • Extension to letchworth for more variety and Route opportunities. Or if dtg really wanna be the best developer push it as far as kings Cross with trains to central London being taken over at Finsbury Park by AI to access st Pancras low level: benefits include ability to drive Class 801 between London and stevenage, full class 365 Route coverage, full 2019 ecml timetable Layers and railtour layers applicable (flying Scotsman)
    • DCR Class 60 and wagon gameplay pack for the DCR aggregates freight services
    • Class 379 Stansted express emu
If we ever get to see this line made in tsw5 I would pay on the first day of release, obviously gbrf licensing may be difficult so an unbranded Class 66 would not bother myself and hopefully others, the class 365s are captured in all enthusiasts hearts as one of the best older emu's to have ran. Im aware the full line is a MASSIVE stretch but a man can dream, an extension as far as Hitchin ain't a bad shout though. Overall I believe with the right timetable and right stock this route will be an amazing addition to the game

I don't know this route tbh - but if it includes Kings Cross - Stevenage I'm up for it - though preferably it'd go to PBO. Do LNER ever divert across the Fen line? Don't know where it is geographically relative to the ECML

In terms of geography, it runs sort of parallel to the ECML after leaving it at Hitchin, although no ECML services use it except those running from Kings Cross to Cambridge/Kings Lynn.

Thanks - I may have been thinking of the Hertford Loop.

Thought I saw a Tiktok video about an 80x on the Fen Line the other day, described as a non-routine move. I think I was mistaken, but unsure what line it was.
