I hope that in a few years we won't see a new Train Sim World, Train Sim World 5 will remain the same for now
ain't happening sorry.. It has been confirmed that a new, un-needed, cash grab game will be out every year
Well, we all have dreams. Some we remember, but most we don't. It is nice to have dreams, but it's the nightmares that we all wish did not happen. Regrettably, TSW will be pumped out every year, they (DEVS) will all jump for joy and clap and sing the praises of the latest and greatest Same Game, which has a few more tick boxes ticked, as they promote it and there will be the shockingly and outraged statements of A leak that someone will pay dearly for because they violated the sanctity of DTG "cough, cough"
Like it or loathe it (or lump it) seems that is the business model they are working to and probably determined by their Focus overlords too. Best we can hope is that, 1. TSW6 will offer the same free update and, 2. They will somehow come up with a means to transfer existing content across without having the tedium of redownloading 80Gb worth of data.
We absolutely NEED this, i'm starting to get tired of re - download all contents every year, i haven't finish to download all compatible content's in TSW5 because running out of giga is a pain, hope i'll finish to download all compatibles at november
Given how many DLCs are released a year, at what point does it become ridiculous to redownload everything every year, and set the game up yet again? At what point does it become untenable to have yet another version of each historic DLC in the stores (i.e. there are now 4 versions of TSW2 routes, 3 versions of TSW3 routes etc.)? On both counts, I'd say we're at that point now.
DTG also need to be mindful, at this stage of the product life cycle they need us more than we need them. Between TSC and TSW not to mention all my other games, I already have enough content to play that will more than likely last the rest of my lifetime. Just finishing Journey Mode on the 50+ TSW routes I own could take several years. So I need an exponentially increasing reason to keep paying out money for new product and DLC that doesn’t offer anything new or innovative. Exactly why I can’t get excited over the MBTA route or the ATS project, now its nature and extent have been revealed. I have the quantity, now I want the quality - both core and content.
wdym cash grab? TSW5 FREE STARTER PACK ???? Obviously u need to pay for the routes but its cheaper than releasing them seperate so i do not get your point here. You being you i guess
so you say you can’t get excited but ATS haven’t even told us what features they have, already the lineside quality has been spoken about and they are still to unveil layers, how they will use longsight, what details they have focused on. It’s clear they have gone for quality over quantity which is exactly what you’ve just said you want so what else do you want in a route?
Something other than a modern electrified UK commuter route with stops every couple of miles like a bus service. Regardless of how good it is, the experience is broadly going to be the same as Glossop, BCC, Cathcart et al. I’m not saying it will be bad and of course many will enjoy it, but purely from my POV there is absolutely no immediate rush or need to add it to my collection.
I'm happy that they did a free starter pack but there simply is no need to release a new TSW game every 12 months. After 5 TSW games, I've given up on "hating DTG's buisness practise" but after playing TSW since the first game, it get's very annoying to re-download every DLC every year esspecially when more and more DLCs are released. I know that I'm not obligated to get every game or DLC but TSW is the only 'videogame' I play other then Minecraft when I feel like playing that game. The game never looks any different anyways a part from a few visual differences. Whilst they did release the Free Starter Pack, DTG also released TSW5 as a payware game for PC, Epic, Xbox & PS with the normal 3 versions. With these versions, it's cheaper to get the 3 core routes as well as the 390 & Flix Train (if you paid for the Deluxe or Special edition) then getting the routes seperatly when you have upgraded to TSW5. Like with TSW4, they made the 390 and the Flix Train a seperate, exclusive train initially featuring with Deluxe and Special Editions instead of having them as a main train for their respective routes because they know people would rather get the Deluxe or Special edition so they can play with those trains when they can instead of waiting a month from release to get the trains as seperate DLCs just like what they did with the Vectron and Flying Scotsman last year.
Technically you're right. From a marketing perspective there is a need though, else the game will disappear from the console storefronts, and "new" games attract more customers than a 2017 game which it is. DTG have more or less admitted that this is the reason, and it's officially proclaimed as an annual release in PulluP's business roadmap. Psychology plays a huge role in marketing a product.
lucky guy ... I had to re-download 220 GB + TSW 5 content, so like over 245GB ... and my wifi being like 48 Mbps? ... so I set the download before going to bed and when I got back from work the next day at like 10 pm I finally had the game ready to go lol
Actually it was probably more like the numbers you mention, with 50 odd route DLC plus other bits and pieces, so bit of error correction on my part there!
I am even contemplating buying a bigger HDD cos now from 1TB TSW has like 250GB... and Boston Commuter is coming... new DE route by TSG is coming... that Dutch and Welsh routes are coming... so like 20 more GB coming to PC near you
