As a welsh railway, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highlands railway is an amazing railway going through the amazing welsh mountains and countryside. There is so much astonishing scenery and is full of hours of travelling through it. The Ffestiniog railway goes from Portmadog to Bleanau Ffestiniog and served for the mines in the 1800s. It's roughly an hour long and is 13 1/2 miles long. It was built in 1832 and has the iconic Double Fairlie, designed by Robert Francis Fairlie. The Welsh Highland railway is 22 miles long and is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours long from Portmadog to Caernarfon. It's a very long railway with beautiful scenery and it also shares the same station as the Ffestiniog railway at Portmadog. The railway was first built in 1921-1923. It then got rebuilt in 1997-2011 creating the railway we see today.

These 2 routes would be an amazing Spirit of Steam collection. The mountain scenery is spectacular. Plus, Ffestiniog used to run loads of slate from the mines to the ports by pulling the wagons up to the mountains by horse (and later using steam power). To get the loads down from the mountains, the wagons were coupled together and sent down by gravity. It was basically a roller coaster. I think that Ffestiniog does the same thing today with tourists. That would be a fun operation to recreate. Could it happen in game? Don't know, but it would be awesome.

Day One for me. With oil firing that could simplify the physics a little, though frankly I would take these routes with steam “as is” in TSW.

The only fly in the ointment could be licensing of course, how keen the WHR/FR are to see their operations depicted in a sim.
