Free roam on service mode has really transformed this game. It has turned every route into a giant sandbox model railway. There is so much more to do. I've just had great fun shunting ballast wagons in Lichfield Low Level sidings (previously inaccessible), propelling them up to High Level. I then waited for a commuter train before taking them to Lichfield City sidings and shunting them into the wall siding. I then took the Gronk back to Low Level. A simple fun exercise that was impossible before... Well done DTG. I've criticised the game a lot in the past (and there are still performance issues) but this new feature is amazing. I'll buy another route tomorrow to say thank you.
Second this! The game has really lacked replay value for me. services and scenarios are great but once you play them there is no variation if you play them again, but this completely transforms the game. You make the rules and each time you do, you get different outcomes depending on AI traffic, signals, etc. Truly amazing!
I've been waiting a LONG time to pull this off! Kudos to DTG for this mode (it even recognizes the appropriate stops on the line)!
