For the short notes, please scroll to the bottom.

What is the route? - Westbury to Weymouth

When is it set? - Either up to present as the rolling stock already in the game can have a few changes to match the correct to (Train Operating Company) or back in the late 80's which again only needs a few changes on the 33 but also could have the street line included?.

Why this route? - It is quite a busy little line (not a branch) which would mainly require the route as most of the rolling stock used is already in the game.

    --The heart of Wessex line--
This line runs between Bristol Temple Meads and Weymouth, following the Wessex mainline via Bath spa and to Westbury before peeling off and following the reading to Taunton line as far as Castle Cary. It then runs as the Heart of Wessex line all the way until it joins the South Western Mainline just outside of Dorchester west and it finally runs down to Weymouth. This route is quite a busy route with many travelling for a day trip to the beach.

    --Rolling stock--
The main rolling stock on this route consist of the class 166/165 networkers (turbos)(Great Western Express) and occasionally the odd class 158 (Midland Mainline) running in replacement of the turbos. The class 801 (ECML)could theoretically could run this route if the correct changes were made to make it into a class 802. The HST (Great Western Mainline) could also run this route depending on again when the route was set. Finally, time period depending, the Class 150 (WCL) could also run this route as it was dedicated to this service before the mass move of turbos into the Wessex region. If it was to have been set in 1988, most of the Locomotives in the game from that period would work as there are many photos of these running down the line to Weymouth.

    --Why Westbury?--
I chose Westbury as it's quite a busy station with services from London to the west, Cardiff central to Portsmouth harbour, to Swindon and back and down to Weymouth and Gloucester. If there were to be a desire to run freight on this line, it could be done with Westbury being famous for its large goods slidings and the various quarry dotted between Bruton and Westbury. There are also train sidings for the sprinters and turbos to stable overnight. If you only wanted to do a short scenario, most high speed units that stop at Westbury stop at castle Cary meaning that there is a possibility to do a 15-20 min high-speed service as far as Castle Cary.

Weymouth is definatly a good ending place, firstly as it's a terminating station for all services that run to it, and secondly, it has 2 sidings, the Jubilee and Jersey sidings that can be used for storage of units overnight, giving the player an opportunity to do more empty coaching moves.

The route takes about 1hr and 37mins.

I would love it if they could go al the way to Bristol, but it's probably too far and too long, however that is what the Driver will do on that line, great suggestion though, I would love to see it being a Frome local
