The Highland Mainline. Inverness - Perth.
Inverness to Perth by rail is 118 miles but is a very scenic route to drive, with many landmarks along the way, for example slochd Summit! Traction is also very wide, with 158s 170s 43s 80x 66s 73s 70s and sometimes 37s. We would have a great variety of Passenger and freight services. There are 27 passenger services every day, unless it's a Sunday. Then you have Freight, Monday to Friday you have 4H47/4D47 which is DRS operated tesco train from Coatbridge to Inverness Freight Sdgs (DRS) Both run mainly in day time unless it's winter. Then you have the 2 LNER runs. And Sleeper runs. You also have the cement tanks that run every Thursday by Colas class 70s. Colas also operate 43s and 37s on this route for PLPR Test trains and UTU test trains mainly over the weekends. There are also plenty of railtours that come up each year. One being the Royal scotsman! This route would be a great addition to TSW5 and would definitely be worth £30, if there is maybe a new train? Caugh caugh Class 70! Or 68 that also run Nuclear flask trains to Georgemas from Carlisle, or even the tesco train sometimes! I hope you like my suggestion!
