The No Sound In Tsc Saga.

    Okay, there were a couple of posts on Steam about users having no sound in TSC to cut a long story short it turns out to be that an update from Avast and AVG virus programs caused these issues as the people having issues removed these programs and now have their sound back. Now some people were blaming DTG but most of us were blaming the writers of the virus software. I see a big discussion about this over on UKTS with quite a bit of squabbling going on. As I'm not a member nor do I want to be a member I cannot intervene.

    Nothing to worry about. I haven't read that discussion, but you can only supply facts to people, what they do with it is their own business.

    Facts:
    - no change to the files happened by the time Avast flagged the issue
    - no report by Windows Security or Steam, who are making sure no malware is spread via their platform (and be sure they do!)

    Avast ist just a 3rd party false flagging and blocking content. Why people are using it is beyond me - you do not need external AV scanners nowadays. But the industry is doing everything to make you believe you need those tools, because there's money to make with fear.

    McAfee has spread hystery and panic (Michelangelo virus) to get big.
    Kaspersky operate from Moscow... make of that what you want
    Avast false flagging stuff... but they get your money and access to your whole system.

    Questions:
    Were there any error messages reported by "View Reliability History" and/or "Event Viewer"?
    Did running Windows sfc /scannow or DISM commands help at all?

    You should ask those who were affected by the Avast issues, I've had none :)

    Neither have I, using Windows Security.
