The West Somerset Railway is the only heritage railway in TSW. It is probably in because it is the longest heritage railway and if they want uniqueness then how about the only heritage mainline in the world. If you don't know the Leicester GCR and Nottingham GCR are being reunited making it a 18 mile railway. It is the fastest as well with the usual 25mph then 45mph for special trains like private trains and 60mph for testing for Network Rail or something. It also has the only branchline of a heritage railway and this is to the Mountsorrel Heritage Centre more on that later. This is the Leicester GCR containing 4 stations: Loughborough, Quorn and Woodhouse, Rothley and Leicester North. Most activity is at Quorn. If you have not been I recommend going to Quorn or Rothley. Branchline When you leave Swithland Sidings you leave the mainline to a single track branchline to the Mountsorrel Heritage Centre were there is a narrow gauge railway and shunting demonstrations and if you pay for the loco you will get to drive it and do some shunting demonstrations (in TSW). Normally it is either a DMU or a 3F Jinty but the Jinty is under overhaul at Mountsorrel but it has been returned to the GCR so maybe in the possible future.

Nice idea but in truth I would rather see part of the GC as it was in BR steam days, Nottingham or Leicester down to Woodford Halse or Aylesbury.
Love the idea. Would rather wait until they connected the two GCRs first that way we get the full experience in one go.
Me too be to be honest we are missing a lot of good heritage railways and I think it's good to sell it separately or as a pack with the SDJR and call it Lost Loved Railways Of England
