The LNER had their endeavours for stronger and faster steam locomotives some turned out great and some didn’t do well. The LNER P2 was built for one purpose and that was “Take the heavy trains from Edinburgh to Aberdeen over the intense inclines at express speeds” So these 6 locomotives (None Survived) were built as 2-8-2 ‘Mikados’ with 3 cylinders.A P2 is currently being built in Darlington and is named ‘Prince Of Wales’ and is planned to be completed in 2025 The Peppercorn A1 was an 4-6-2 3 cylinder Pacific designed by AH Peppercorn for express passenger service none of these survived until recently but a similar class called an A2 is preserved and named Blue Peter.An A1 was completed in 2008 and is named ‘Tornado’ in Darlington When Prince Of Wales is running on the Mainline it would be a great opportunity to incorporate it (with Tornado) into TSW on Future Routes.
