I watched a Vanmayo video recently, and learned that there used to be an OA operator called Wrexham and Shropshire that closed due to bankruptcy. I've just found out that Alstom and SLC rail are opening the Wrexham, Shropshire, and Midlands Railway, with plans to start as early as 2025. Unlike W and S, WSMR will operate out of Euston instead of Marylebone, and will operate 5 trains per day into Wrexham (avoiding Birmingham). Any thoughts? https://www.wsmr.co.uk/
Personally OAOs are always a good thing and AWC certainly need a kick up the rear passage. I can't say I know particularly much about this one but it should be a good prospect. Has there been any more progress on the stock they are getting; I have heard 22x thrown about but am not particularly sure.
I haven't heard anything about rolling stock. Some application about something (probably permission to run) was submitted a couple of days ago to the ORR and that's about it so far. I did find this map though: According to Alstom, they're using a freight line called the "Sutton Park Line". https://www.alstom.com/press-releas...its-own-passenger-train-service-uk-first-time
Ah that is good to hear, I hope it does get the go ahead, because like I say OAOs are a very good thing for the railway. I don't think anything has been confirmed, but I have heard that 22x are quite likely. It is an interesting route, and a shame they couldn't get that all important stop at New Street, but at least they have got the MK stop and will be significantly faster than the originals!
