The Rhymney line is probably most well known for the 37/0 and /4 operated services during the early 21st Century. This era is when this route would be set. As well as the main part of the route from Penarth to Rhymney, the short branch off to Cardiff Bay as well as the 3 mile Coryton branch would be included. At the time the majority of services in the area were operated by the infamous Class 142/143 'Pacers'. The Cwmbargoed Colliery would also be included with Class 66's operating most if not all services to and from the colliery.

    Proposed Rolling Stock
    • Class 37/4 in EWS livery with de-branded Virgin Mk2's [IMG]
The focus of this route, due to a lack of turnaround facilities at Penarth the services terminated at Cardiff Central.
    • Class 142 'Pacer in Valley Lines livery[IMG]
Unfortunately for passengers, the backbone of the Valley Lines stopping services
    • Class 150/2 in Valley Lines livery[IMG]
Operated services to Caerphilly, Penarth and Barry Island (splits off at Cogan Junction)
    • Class 66 in EWS livery + HTA wagons[IMG]
Freight services to and from Cwmbargoed Colliery (around 7 a day)

    Possible DLC's
    • 'Arriva Trains Wales DMU Pack' Class 143, 150/2 and 121 in ATW livery
    • 'Class 37 Freight Pack' Class 37/0 in Mainline Livery, Class 37/7 in Loadhaul livery + HAA wagons in Coal Sector livery.
