And that one thing is that it can't couple up to coaches. Due to the lack of a drawhook the new 37 is completely incompatible with any kind of coaching stock. At first this may not seem like a problem, but this completely eliminates the loco from being used for railtour layers in future, and also prevents any other stock move layers on new routes. Now obviously DTG can't remodel the coupler to include the hook tucked in like in reality, so instead I suggest that an invisible chain is simulated when the dellner is lowered. This would allow for the loco to couple to coaches, and surely would not be very hard to update. The coupler is already recognised as a hook so surely it would be as simple as just change a line of code that makes the chainless hook be recognised by the game as a hook with a chain.
They mentioned on stream that it does have a traditional coupling hook and can be used with freight wagons as well. Why would coaching stock not work?
British passenger coaches don't have a chain, as they use drophead buckeyes in between the carriages. Where they attach to the loco they have hook with no chain and use the loco's chain to attach. The new 37 doesn't have a chain in game so when you try to couple up nothing happens since its 2 hooks but no chain to link them
so However, what you can do if you wish to have a class 37/7 to pull passenger carriages in current time. Is that by attaching another loco. So locos like, class 47, class 44, class 37/5 etc. For some reason the class 37/7 allows not only wagons but an extra locomotive. So you have the class 37/7 on the front and a second locomotive behind the 37/7 there you can attach the locomotive with the carriages. So technically you cant directly couple the 37/7 with the carriages but you can by using a translator, which is the locomotive.
Wouldn't say it's great. Parts of the model are not affected by Motion sway and seem to move independently from the cab, like the window frames. Looks pretty awkward once you notice it.
I thought I was going mad since I couldn’t find anyone else reporting this. Unfortunately, it’s one of the first things I noticed. I was really looking forward to a contemporary 37, but I’m very disappointed by this poor effort.
Does anybody else get random brake applications that bring the speed down to 10mph before releasing? I'm not sure what could be causing it
That happens on many locos and is probably more related to the (partially working) suspension code. The Class 40 also feels different now on parts of NTP. And with different I don't mean better. But it was a cheapo, so I guess it's ok.
This was highlighted to me when I was playing the Glossip line over the new year. The is a pair of Mk1s in the depot with a 37/7 at each end but clearly not coupled for the above reasons. It would be cool of DTG could model a screw link addition for hook on hook couplings.
I am not talking about the shaking you get in TSW4 because of the new suspension physics. I am playing TSW3 and the body of the Class 37/7 is simply vibrating in curves. You can see it becoming blurred due to motion blur. The cab is okay, it is only the outside body that keeps shaking.
This error is rooted in the model and its child objects and will surely never be fixed. It's apparent on other locos, as the NID 365. If you watch it closely, the wiper will sway on its own as if detached from the cab. Wasn't there a bug reported also with the ROG 37 that had the door open but its window not moving with the door?
Honestly, things like the wiper and the window frames moving "independently" don't even bother me that much. I just don't understand why the whole thing vibrates in curves. Because while the NID 365 also has the "floating bits" issue, at it that one is not vibrating and getting blurred in curves. So far only the ROG 37/7 is the only one I have seen doing this.
I have experienced this exact same thing on the Niddertalbahn DB BR 365. Super weird *Missed that this was already mentioned here in the chat. Sorry
Don't use the ROG Class 37/7 in winter. Half of the cab windows have no glass in them, so you'll freeze to death.
