Wonderful suggestion! I think the BR Standard 7 would be a great suggesion for this route. The Duchess Coronation is a brilliant engine for this route

Would this work well with the existing Huddersfield to Leeds route?

I think that the farthest they would go with the settle to Carlisle would be to Skipton because it’s a bigger station than Settle. Also NTP goes to Manchester which is about 1 hour (express) so inferring that if we were to go from Manchester Victoria to Carlisle that would take it would take 3 and a half hours ish and yes we have the save feature but what if you wanted to start on a new route and you save that one instead. The community don’t react well to long and tiring routes so a 1 hour and 40 minute route is a bit under the 3 hour and a half hours I stated. Still not a bad idea though

I love this idea, the Settle to Carlisle Line is iconic regardless of whichever era it is set in as you have Ribblehead Viaduct and other landmarks along there, it could make for some stunning screenshots in Photo Mode though :)

Would be perfect. We really need more LMS steamers to "fill out" the roster more. Especially the Black 5.
With the new editor, it would allow for the creation of a much more realistic Spirit of Steam timetable as well.

And the rebuilt Royal Scot class.

If they wanna add diesel to it, the Deltic prototype DP1 underwent trials on the route in the 1950's, would be really nice to see it in game (also for layers on other routes).

    Yes a rebuilt Scot

I'm not a diesel fan so pass on that, although it is quite neat to see the 37s on RHTT. I think the 37s are getting quite sparse now. I always know when they're coming through as I live 1/4 mile from the station, and hear them, not heard them once this year. The 57s were around last year, but they are quiet. Haven't seen any this year though just 66s.

Maybe even some older engines for the SnC too like a midland spinner. Would need the old rolling stock to go with it.

    The Blue Riband
The steam physics at the moment are not so realistic as to show the differences between locos. If the loco performance was close to reality, it would be good to try different locos on the SnC for the fastest climb, with the same load.

More "clag" would be good when climbing or opening up the regulator.

Judging how the community acts to LMS and Peak Forest it would be a lovely send of to the LMS regions for a while. Spirit of Steam is quite empty when you expect a high level mainline you expect high levels of traffic so a new Express and Mixed Traffic engine would expand the timetable. We could get the Black 5 in an expansion to Manchester Victoria with the Britannias and call it ‘The Last Leg’ because the 15 guinea special went from Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Victoria upload_2023-11-22_19-24-40.png

That's a shot from the 90s with dreaded ETHEL behind the black 5.

Why not set this in the same era as the train simulator classic version that way it's instantly familiar look at the proposals for the electrified version miles away West Coast main line over shap they want it in the same era as tsc

Yes it would and it’s not bad however let’s say you’re leaving settle station and you’re heading up the 10 mile gradient in a 156, nothing to look at with the DMU and they aren’t putting as much effort in as a Black 5 would. With that gradient would put more pressure on you because 1 it’s hard to start back up and 2 you can’t roll back but if you shoot off in a 158 than you aren’t getting that same wow factor with the 158, yes the scenery would be a definite wow factor. A steam engine however is you have more to focus on and you’re not bored up the 10 miles and you have more opportunities with photo mode (if you’re into that) to me it just made sense ‘Most Beautiful Railway in England and The most beautiful motive power’

A railway line like this does make more sense in steam days.

Obviously without the raspberry ripple ETHEL coupled behind any steam locos on the route.
