The south western mainline is a iconic line from Waterloo to Weymouth and Portsmouth. With this in mind, we could have only to Southampton Central because its the most important part of the line. About the route The around 60 miles of track from London to Southampton is an amazing line. Calling at stations like: London Waterloo, Clapham Junction, Basingstoke and Southampton Central etc. It has the South west vibes, which, we haven't got for a while. Trains Modern day based, this will have: classes 450, 444, 458 and 455, supposedly based in 2020. Classes 450 and 444 will be the most driven trains, the 455s to Richmond and 458s to Basingstoke! Layers Class 20 Railtour to Basingstoke from Clapham Junction. Class 40/45/47/52/jubilee class Railtour to Southampton Central from Clapham Junction. Class 377/387 Trains at Clapham Junction. 1 class 484 route Testing train. Summary This would be an excellent route to drive, with more guarding scenarios! The problem is: in the Isle of Wight line (2022) dtg didn't get the authorisation to use the SWT livery, this could affect this route. But, would be an amazing route!!
I like it, but personally i’d like the Via Guildford line, you have the cobham slow line, the fast line, still have layers around portsmouth and clapham for southern, and 166’s at guildford. You’d also be tackling some big hills and steep gradients. You’d still get all the trains you mentioned, plus the 707 here and there and 455’a would be more utilised, maybe even 456
