With the advent to route hopping and the the 190th Anniversary of Great Western Railway, how about something a little adventurous? A two-part route about one of britian's most historic railways, the Great Western Railway (1835-1947); Part One would be a historic retrace of the Paddington to Reading portion of the Great Western Main Line (as seen in Great Western Express) as it would've looked like during the 1930s just before the war; Part Two would cover the GEWL from Reading to passing through the GWR's famed railway town of Swindon then ending at the western seaport of Bristol at the railway's historic Temple Meads station. - Time Period: c.1938 (Big Four Era) =Possible Locomotives= -Passenger: ▪︎Collett 4073 "Castle" Class 4-6-0s ▪︎Collett 6000 "King" Class 4-6-0 (DLC Trainpack) Freight: ▪︎Collett 2884 Class 2-8-0s ▪︎Churchward 2800 Class 2-8-0s Mixed-Traffic: ▪︎Collett 4900 "Hall" Class 4-6-0s ▪︎Churchward 4300 Class 2-6-0s Tank Engines: ▪︎Collett 4800 [1400] 0-4-2 ▪︎Collett 5700 Class 0-6-0PT ▪︎Churchward 4500 2-6-2 ▪︎Collett 4575 2-6-2T ▪︎Collett 5101 2-6-2T ▪︎Collett 6100 2-6-2T
Nice idea, would be nice, BUT, DTG is no longer in the Steam business anymore, well as they have stated unless a 3rd part dev team wants to make any new Steam Locos and routes.
As already stated, steam content is not on the cards for the foreseeable future. Otherwise I would back this suggestion. Probably a better call to request the late 1950s to early 1960s during the early diesel era as the route was still vastly different than today. Also it must have ALL of the branches between Paddington and Reading which were vastly more extensive than today with locations no longer on the connected network as well as many of the stations totally different and in some cases larger.
At least one of the big steam developers for TSC (Victory) have categorically stated they are not prepared to attempt anything steam related in TSW while the core remains so utterly broken. You can fairly safely assume the other big names like Bossman, well PLD now and Caledonia harbour similar thoughts. Also Caledonia refuse to sell their products on Steam, as I was categorically informed on their Facebook page a few days ago. So great as the suggestion is, there is more chance of getting an early diesel era Western Region route. Then as DTG also seem to have shed or lost the talent that created the previous BR Classic stuff that also seems unlikely.
So in short, even the 3rd parties are not willing to entertain Steam Loco Creation in TSW regardless of selling on the Steam platform or not! And we are all stuck with broken Steam Locos, well for the foreseeable future.
Great Steam Loco DLC suggestion to bring back Steam Loco into Train Sim World. It just that Dovetail needs to create a better Steam Loco simulation physics for anything steam related to happen.
