Hello everyone, today I will officially be announcing a new project of mine, where I plan to make my own professional model railway, this will be around a month - 2 month long project, this is the concept map; So the left part is a station, the sidings platform is for dmus, more on that in a bit, however let's spotlight the middle sidings first, the 3 shortest ones are for Locomotives, the second longest one is for freight, and the longest one is for coaches and may get expanded as time goes on. Anyway onto loco allocations; flying scotsman & tornado will take turns on the outer line passenger services with the lner teaks, flying scotsman will haul the weekly pullman service on the outer line too, I have a Caledonian Freight loco which will haul freight services + inner line (slow line) passenger services until a dmu is bought for the line, I also have a summertime cola train which will operate freight and breakdown services I also have a Santa Express loco which will only run in December on Christmas Charter + Christmas Freight. But yeah so far, that is really about it, I plan to start the project in a few weeks so I can't wait for that, I thought I would make this thread as a nice little announcement. I will keep you all posted.
Good luck with your project. I’m currently rebuilding my model railway for the 6th time in two decades, so hope you get up and running in the two months you state! Hope you got plenty of patience and cash to get the layout working as you wish… certainly not a cheap hobby any more. If you get stuck or just want any feedback from my experiences building a layout please just ask! All the best
Tbh, I have 85% of what I need, I just need a turntable and like 10 point sets, led strip lights to light the area (it's a part of an in wall cabinet) the dmu I mentioned, and I would love an IC yellow and blue hst, and a swallow power car perhaps. If I ever buy any signs or cool stuff like that, I plan to line it along the wall. Edit: and the station materials but hoping I can find some cheap stuff on Ebay.
Things I Plan To Get For The Railway Once Complete: BR Class 20 BR Class 47 DB Class 67 TBC Livery Class 70 LNER A4 IC HST (2 IC Yellow + Blue Power Cars (Both Working) & One Swallow Power Car + Mk3's) SR Merchant Navy Clan Line & Some Freight For The Freight Yard Expansion I Want To Make If I Have Extra Space.
MAP UPDATE The map has been compressed to fit, however a new yard has been added, it will be shared by Freightliner, Colas Rail, & GBRf. The 2nd longest siding will now be used as a maintenance siding where locos will undergo servicing and wait on servicing if further away from the end of the track.
Good news! After a right faff trying to get it out of storage After 4 years of being in storage I can confirm 60163 tornado is still in (near) mint condition besides a missing buffer which I think was an issue before.
Update: Work is soon to start (hopefully this week or next week, however I was able to find this out: So as a nice touch, I thought it would be nice if I were to put it on the side the model station is, facing the station! Eastleigh Arlington are also selling some parts which I hope to get when the auction ends, (https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/afsl-parts) So yes, it's looking good.
Hey guys, been very busy at the moment, and I haven't yet had time to make a start on the project, I will try my best to get this started as soon as possible, but I have encountered an error in the planning, there is way too many points in my design and I didn't really it was £30 for a single fu**ing point set. Wish I was lying.
