This post is regarding the extremely broken and flawed PIS system that TSW3 uses. For those who aren't aware, 'PIS' is a broad term used which stands for 'Passenger Information Systems'. Under this umbrella term falls things such as platform boards which display the arrivals of trains, destination boards on trains which displays where it's terminating, and other more minor things such as the interior screens that display when the next station is etc. I do understand that this is by no means an important feature for everyone, and some of you may not even realise that the system is broken, however, for some players, it is extremely imersion breaking and it is an important feature.

    The TSW2 PIS system
I am going to be using the London Commuter route here as a demonstration.
In Train Sim World 2, the system used for PIS (especially on London Commuter) was absolutely brilliant. When you load up a train, the destination will be automatically set, however you still had the option to change the destination to any destination that was included in the huge list, and the board would update and show this new destination. In addititon to this, AI trains actually displayed their destination, something that is completely missing from TSW3, but I will get on to this. The system used in TSW2 was perfect, and did everything it needed to. You may be thinking now.. so what's the problem? Well...

When Train Sim World 3 released in September, DTG completely broke the PIS system as a result of them attempting to make it better and easier to install into routes. Not only was this an issue in the first TSW3 routes, it has been apparant in every single route since TSW3's release, even after the issue got reported multiple times by multiple people back in September, including myself.

I understand that PIS may not be a priority for DTG, but it is completely unacceptable for them to take a perfectly working system, completely break it and then proceed not to fix it. While there are a lot of PIS bugs, the most major one has got to be the fact that Ai trains do not display any form of destination..

AI trains do not display their destination
This has got to be the most irritating, infuriating bug that TSW3 brought in terms of PIS. In all TSW3 routes, AI trains will have a completely empty destination board, there is nothing there. When you drive a train yourself, it works absolutely fine, however the problem lies with AI trains. Something I noticed, when you spawn into the route and there are AI trains next to you, they will display their destination, but as soon as you encounter a train you did not spawn in with, its destination board is empty - it seems like there is some sort of glitch here with trains not rendering in certain things. DTG have addressed this issue a few times, however I struggle to believe that they will ever fix this considering it affects routes released back in September.. How was this not picked up in Qa? It truly bugs me so much that such a glaring glitch has been left in the game unspotted for around 4 routes now.

There are obviously so many more PIS-related bugs, so if you have any you'd like to add feel free.

DTG Matt, DTG JD, I fully understand that the team are working on higher-priority bugs, but just some reassurance that the team are aware of the broken PIS system and/or are working on fixing it would make me (and I'm sure many others) feel much better. As I said before, it is unacceptable to take a system that works well, and break it - it makes zero sense, and should be rectified.

DTG doing something that works well but releases something that breaks what originally was fine. DTG would never do that. Oh wait....
