Can't agree with the 76s, they're beautiful things for me its the GA 755s or the southern schools classes. I loathe them.
You can also call this one Neville since Thomas and Friends tv show had the Q1 Southern Railway as a character. That's why younger people call it Neville while a 4MT tank gets called Belle. Want an American Ugly train behold the Talgo 8 and Siemens Charger. These are in the Amtrak Cascades paint scheme
Im just gonna link this old topic here https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/is-the-the-ugliest-train-ever-build.34448/
Whoops, I forgot that you don't see the interior in that page, just watch this video at the end at 3:00...
Autorail Bugatti, I don’t really find it ugly but quite weird but I guess it looked quite modern for a train from the early 30’s
No. Also, no. The 197 is decent tbf, the red front ruins it 100%. Minus points for 'Lerpol' in place of 'Liverpool' on the front PIS. Not strictly the 156, just any train wearing this abomination of a livery. "This is the future" - 1900s man
Yep and I’m not happy to train on it… at least with the double decker coaches, each sides fit perfectly with the locomotives.
The train at the bottom is an E5/H5 Shinkansen from the TSC Tohoku Shinkansen route. Want something from JR West and Texas Central the N700S. Only my Mum and her sister used it from Kyoto to Kobe that section of the route is used as a commuter train.
Pic explains itself an bit otherwise https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schienenzeppelin#/media/File:Schienenzeppelin_Steilrampe.jpg
Ah, the "View outside is overrated" school of design. The first two look interesting, very big locomotives.
All of them were new york central locos first and 3rd one is Hudson class loco's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Central_Hudson and the 2nd is Mercury https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_(train) Idea of why they are looking like that is because of they are streamlined
I don’t see how you think 74s and 76s are ugly 74s are rebuilt 71s which look amazing and with pipes there is an argument to be made that they look even better, and 76s & 77s there is something about them that is unique and majestic and they were great engines to have especially if you were lucky enough to have a no heat one.
376 has a bit of strange front window, does it really need splitting 3 times… but would 2 windows seem weirdly wide… I’m a bit too much of a fan for a 442 to diss them, the headlights look a bit like eyes and the front windows seem to provide a more panoramic view over the standard 377 and 385 type windows. Though as with those units the gangway attachable doors for me seem to detract points of great from them. the 76 looks like some sort of power transformer box what should be attached to a pylon but has wheels I don’t think I’m a fan of the 74 too much. Seems a bit bog standard basic. Though could be a lot worse. the 73 as with the others, like a box but somewhat reminds me of a toaster.
The best thing about this thread is that everyone has different definitions of ugly... I politely disagree with most of you as a lot of these designs look very unique & iconic to me !
Pretty sure the 376 front was designed to prevent train surfing which was (and might still be) a problem on the South Eastern metro routes. It was a solution to a problem so I guess function over form?
This is another one I have to disagree on even with the hatch open. I think the 397s are rather nice looking as modern trains go.
